Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by providing relevant information about the new theatre in Mohali, formally inviting the actor, and explaining why he is a suitable choice as a famous public figure. Your position and purpose are clear throughout the letter. The ideas are extended and supported, such as mentioning the location at CP 67 Mall and the specific date and time of the opening ceremony. However, there is a slight tendency to over-generalise or provide repetitive details regarding his fame rather than deeply exploring unique reasons for his suitability, placing this firmly within the expected performance level. All bullet points are appropriately covered, and the tone is suitably polite and formal for a professional invitation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression from introducing the new venue to extending the invitation and explaining your reasoning. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction of the cinema from the specific details of the event and the request. However, cohesion is at times a bit mechanical or basic, relying on simple linking words like 'So' to transition between ideas. Referencing could also be smoother, as sentences occasionally feel abrupt or disjointed. To improve further, incorporating a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring seamless transitions between sentences would elevate the flow of the writing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary choice demonstrates an adequate range for the task, allowing you to successfully communicate your message about the cinema opening. You attempt some less common vocabulary items, such as 'blockbuster films' and 'chief guest', but there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'punjabi industry' instead of 'Punjabi film industry' and writing 'planed' instead of 'planned' (which is a spelling slip). Other phrases like 'one any only' contain spelling or lexical errors that distract from precision. While communication is not impeded, reducing these vocabulary and spelling errors and utilizing more precise phrasing will help you achieve a higher standard of lexical precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating your ability to construct compound thoughts, such as in 'As I am the incharge of this project and company handover all the decision on me.' However, there are persistent grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense and agreement issues like 'company has planed', 'all the screen are', and 'company handover all the decision'. Preposition and article usage also need attention, such as omitting necessary articles before singular nouns. Although these errors do not impede communication and the meaning remains clear, they reflect a limited control over complex grammatical structures and punctuation, keeping the accuracy at this specific level.
