Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task, including providing information about the new theatre, inviting the actor, and explaining why they are a suitable person to open it. However, the development of these ideas is limited. For instance, the mention of the theatre being the largest in Asia and having two parts is rather brief, and the explanation of why the actor is suitable relies on generic praise rather than detailed elaboration. The tone is sometimes overly informal or inappropriate for a professional invitation letter, such as mentioning that it is your 'dream' and asking the reader to 'hope you understand the situation.' While the bullet points are covered, the depth of treatment remains at a foundational level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic organisation present in the letter, with an appropriate salutation and sign-off, and some attempt at paragraphing to separate different ideas such as company details, the invitation, and personal reasons. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the transitions between sentences can feel abrupt. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'and' and 'so' to link clauses. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the mechanical sequencing hinders the overall flow of the text, preventing it from achieving a smoother and more logical progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. There are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occur throughout the response, such as 'edmontonn' instead of Edmonton, 'resturant' instead of restaurant, 'cruciala' instead of crucial, and 'chef guest' instead of chief guest. While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary items related to the entertainment industry, inaccuracies in spelling, word form, and collocation cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a very limited range of structures, relying primarily on simple sentences and basic compound structures. Attempts at complex sentences are often faulty, and there are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and capitalization. Examples include lowercase letters at the start of sentences ('i am writing'), missing articles ('in south part of the Edmonton'), incorrect verb tenses ('our company decided' instead of has decided), and issues with subject-verb agreement and punctuation. These frequent errors distract from the meaning and cause ongoing difficulty for the reader.
