Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to invite you as a chief guest for the inaugration ceremony of the theatre. I work in Yash raj entertainment company as a HOD. Our company has been in this field since 25 years and now wanted to open a new theartre for new artist.

This theartre is located in versova where all the auditions are held. This theatre is particulary for the young talents who can come together and practice their art form. And also, we are planning to organize workshops for acting on every weekends.

It would be an honour for us, if you could spare some time from your schedule and be there for the inaugration ceremony. The event will be held on next saturday at 6 pm at aram nagar versova. You are one of the oldest and finest arist who started his career from theatre and now you're a best actor in the whole bollywood. I strongly believe your presence will motivate the young artist who wants to pursue their career in films.

Please let me know if you could come and if you want us to provide you pick up and drop off service.

Yours sincerely,

Diksha

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, earning a solid rating. You cover all three required bullet points by giving information about the new theatre located in Versova for young talents, inviting the actor to the inauguration ceremony, and explaining why they are a suitable choice due to their background starting in theatre and rising to fame in Bollywood. A clear, appropriate tone and purpose are maintained throughout the letter. The ideas are generally well extended and supported, though the explanation regarding why the actor is suitable could have been slightly more elaborated to push fully into the higher band category. Overall, the task requirements are thoroughly met.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

Your letter demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical progression throughout the text. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, details of the venue, the invitation specifics, and the closing remark. While the organization works well, cohesion is at times a bit mechanical, particularly with the frequent use of 'And also' and basic conjunctions to link sentences. Referencing is mostly clear, but smoother transitions and a more varied use of cohesive devices would elevate the organizational quality further. You achieve a clear flow that guides the reader naturally from the purpose of the letter down to the final logistics.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

Your vocabulary choice is adequate for the task, providing enough range to communicate your message clearly, though it sits at a moderate level. You attempt some less common vocabulary, such as 'inauguration' and 'pursue their career', but there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including 'inaugration', 'theartre', 'particulary', and 'arist' instead of artist. Additionally, phrases like 'best actor in the whole bollywood' sound slightly informal or awkward. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but tightening your spelling, improving word forms, and using more precise collocations will help you move up to a stronger level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms in your letter, such as conditional structures and relative clauses. There are, however, some recurring errors in grammar and punctuation. For instance, 'since 25 years' should be 'for 25 years', and 'now wanted to open' lacks a subject pronoun ('now want to open' or 'now want to open'). Articles and prepositions show occasional slips, such as 'on next saturday' instead of 'next Saturday'. Despite these errors, they rarely impede communication, and you maintain reasonable control over basic sentence construction while attempting more complex structures throughout the response.
