Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully covers all parts of the prompt, though some sections are more fully developed than others. You provide relevant information about the new theatre, such as its seating capacity and amenities like a food court and gaming zone. You also include an invitation and mention reasons why the actor would be a good choice, citing positivity and fan following. However, certain points are somewhat under-developed, such as the explanation of why she or he is the ideal person, which relies on general statements rather than specific achievements. To move to a higher level, you should extend and fully support all your ideas with more specific details and maintain a consistent, appropriate tone throughout the letter.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear purpose, but the flow and referencing are sometimes mechanical. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas could be managed more logically. For instance, mixing event details like timing and lunch in the same paragraph as publicity benefits creates a slightly disjointed progression. Cohesive devices are used, but referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'in this event which is also benefit for publicity.' To improve Coherence and Cohesion, you should ensure a smoother logical progression between sentences and paragraphs, using cohesive devices more naturally and avoiding repetitive structures when linking your ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'inauguration', 'accommodation', and 'press conference'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors, such as writing 'well in seat' instead of seating capacity, and 'fans following' instead of fan base or following. There are also minor spelling and phrasing issues like 'wiil' and 'organising a press conference for you and 8:pm at night'. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict your score. To reach a higher level, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary with greater precision, ensuring correct collocations and natural phrasing suitable for an invitation letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The text shows a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but it contains frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. There are noticeable issues with verb tenses and auxiliary verbs, such as 'Recently, our company will be opening' and 'I will invited', which confuse the timeline. You also make errors in prepositions and articles, as seen in 'at afternoon' instead of in the afternoon, and 'for event' instead of for the event. Punctuation and sentence boundaries occasionally cause difficulty. To achieve a higher score, you need to gain better control over your verb forms, ensure appropriate article use, and produce a higher proportion of error-free sentences while experimenting with more complex grammatical structures.
