Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Mr. Bean,
I hope you are doing well. I am the manager of an entertainment company called Zoom. I am writing to invite you to the opening ceremony of our new cinema.
Firstly, taking about the theatre is located in the heart of the city of Calgary, approximately 4 km from Calgary International Airport. Moreover, this cinema has a seating capacity of 80 people, with reserved seats for special individuals. Furthermore, this cinema has a cafe, which offers a variety of meals and drinks.
I want to invite you to the inauguration ceremony of the cinema, which is going to be held on November 1, next month. If you want, our team will pick you up from the airport, and we will arrange all the security needed for you. If you come, it would be a great honour for us.
You are a well-known actor in the film industry; every genre loves to watch you move, so it will be a great honour for us when you come to the opening ceremony.
I hope you will join us, and write back to us at your earliest convenience
Sincerely
Raman

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the task, meeting the higher band requirements by successfully addressing every bullet point. You clearly give information about the new theatre, such as its location and seating capacity, extend a specific invitation for the inauguration, and explain why Mr. Bean would be a great guest. However, your ideas are somewhat unevenly developed, which keeps the response at a solid level. For instance, the reason why he is suitable is somewhat generalized ("every genre loves to watch you move") rather than fully extended with specific connections to your theatre's goals. To reach the next level, you should expand further on all points with more depth and precise relevance.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your letter shows a coherent overall arrangement with a clear purpose established in the opening paragraph and logical paragraph breaks dividing the information, invitation, and rationale. You make use of cohesive devices like "Firstly", "Moreover", and "Furthermore" to link your sentences. However, some of these transitions feel a bit mechanical, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the awkward transition in the second paragraph. To achieve a higher standard, your cohesive devices need to flow more naturally without drawing attention to themselves, and the logical progression between your ideas should be smoother and more seamless throughout the entire letter.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using functional phrases like "entertainment company", "inauguration ceremony", and "earliest convenience". You also attempt some less common vocabulary items, though this leads to occasional inaccuracies in word choice or collocation, such as "every genre loves to watch you move" instead of referring to his physical comedy or acting style. Spelling and word-choice errors do not impede communication. To move up a band, you need to use a wider and more flexible range of precise, sophisticated vocabulary with greater awareness of natural collocations and stylistic appropriateness.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You show a reasonable mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing conditional structures like "If you want, our team will pick you up..." effectively. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as the awkward grammatical pattern in "taking about the theatre is located" where the participle phrase is misused. Fortunately, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to easily understand your meaning. To reach the next level, you need to incorporate a wider variety of complex structures with frequent error-free sentences and maintain tighter control over your syntactic patterns.
