Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main parts of the task by inviting the actor, giving basic information about the new theatre, and explaining why she or he would be a good person to open it. However, the development of these ideas is limited and mechanical. For instance, the information about the location as "street 6, Park Road" and the venue being designed according to "modern facilities and designs" lacks depth and natural extension. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the response is slightly under the minimum word count of 150 words. To reach a higher band, the writer would need to fully develop all parts of the prompt with richer details and meet the word count requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical structure typical of a formal invitation, opening with a standard salutation and closing with an appropriate sign-off. Paragraphing is used to separate the greeting, the main body points, and the closing remarks. However, cohesion at times feels a bit mechanical and repetitive, particularly with transitions like "As we know" and "As, you have done much good work". Referencing is also slightly unclear in places. To improve coherence and cohesion, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally to ensure a smoother logical progression throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, with simple terms like "entertainment company", "famous celebrity", and "celebration". There are noticeable lexical inadequacies and awkward word choices, such as referring to a "10k fan following" and stating that the actor is considered a "respected personality for us", which sounds unnatural in a formal context. Spelling is generally accurate, but the range of vocabulary remains limited. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to incorporate a broader range of less common lexical items and demonstrate better control over collocation and stylistic appropriateness.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response displays a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, such as "I am writing on behalf of our entertainment company to invite you..." and "I sincerely hope that you will accept our invitation." However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. For example, punctuation and capitalization issues appear in phrases like "street 6, Park Road", and there are awkward comma placements and phrasing errors such as "so it matters alot for us". Control over prepositions and articles is inconsistent. To improve, the writer must reduce the frequency of grammatical errors and demonstrate better command over complex sentence structures.
