Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requirements: you describe the company and proposed Toronto venue, invite Will to attend and open it, and explain that his reputation and fan following could attract attention. The invitation is clear, and the date and location make it concrete. The explanation of why he is suitable is relevant, but it focuses mainly on his commercial popularity; it would be more persuasive if you also connected his acting career or contribution to entertainment with the theatre’s purpose. Some details, such as the venue’s capacity, are useful, though the description of the new theatre could be developed further. This covers the task well overall, with some parts more fully addressed than others; extending the rationale would make the response more complete and convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter follows a sensible sequence: opening purpose, information about the company and venue, invitation details, reasons for choosing the actor, and a closing. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “So” and “As we know” signal relationships between ideas. However, “So” is used repeatedly and can make the links feel mechanical. The final paragraph also combines a hope that the actor will attend with a request for a reply, which could be expressed more smoothly. Some references, such as “it” in the opening, are not fully clear. Use a wider range of natural transitions and make each paragraph’s central point explicit to improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “capacity,” “grand opening,” “fan following,” and “chief guest,” so the reader can understand the main message. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes distract from the letter: “referance,” “innogration,” “cinelpex,” and “opeaning” are examples. Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “good footprint in an entertainment industry” and “amongest the higest paying actor list.” These choices limit precision even though the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully, especially for key terms in the invitation. A more formal phrase such as “strong reputation in the entertainment industry” would communicate your point more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including the conditional invitation “we will be very glad if you can please join us” and a sentence explaining the expected effect of the actor’s attendance. The overall meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “We are in this business since last two decade” needs a present-perfect construction and a plural noun, while “people will be surprised seeing you” has an awkward grammatical pattern. Articles and prepositions also need attention in phrases such as “in an entertainment industry.” Practise accurate tense choices, agreement, and sentence patterns, then proofread each sentence. More consistently controlled complex sentences would strengthen the letter.
