Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The letter addresses all three requirements clearly: it gives details about the theatre and its facilities, makes a direct invitation, and explains why Mr. Holland is suitable. The reasons—his acting career, connection with theatre, and respect among actors and audiences—are relevant and support the request. The tone is appropriately formal and the purpose is clear throughout. To make the response more fully developed, add a little more specific information about the opening event or the actor’s particular contribution, such as whether he would give a short speech or meet guests. The explanation of his suitability is persuasive but remains somewhat general.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5

The information follows a clear, useful sequence: the opening purpose comes first, theatre details follow, and the invitation and supporting reasons are presented before the closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these functions, while phrases such as “In addition,” “Moreover,” and “because of” make relationships between ideas easy to follow. The letter is therefore well organised and progresses logically. Some linking is slightly formulaic, however, and the theatre description places several details in one long sentence. For smoother cohesion, separate the capacity and facilities into distinct sentences and use a more varied transition into the explanation of why the actor is an appropriate choice.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

The response uses an adequate range for a formal invitation, including relevant expressions such as “opening ceremony,” “comfortable seating,” “live performances,” and “highly respected.” These choices communicate the purpose and details effectively, and the tone is generally appropriate. However, several spelling errors and imprecise or awkward expressions limit the accuracy and flexibility of the vocabulary: “enterainment,” “offically,” “aroung,” “mordern,” and “carrer” should be corrected, while “sitting capacity” is less natural than “seating capacity.” The phrase “city centre downtown” is also redundant. More careful proofreading and more precise collocations would make the language more polished.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

The letter includes both straightforward sentences and more developed structures, such as “We believe you would be the perfect person for this occasion because…” and “We sincerely hope you will be able to join us.” Meaning remains clear, and the writer handles the formal invitation structure effectively. Some sentence-boundary and punctuation issues remain: the theatre description joins two independent clauses with a comma in “It has a sitting capacity of aroung 500 people, it has…”. There are also missing spaces after words and punctuation, as in “seatingand” and “honourif,” which affect presentation. Separate the clauses with a full stop or conjunction, and proofread spacing and sentence punctuation to improve control.
