Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The letter addresses all three requirements clearly: it describes the theatre, invites Mr Dutt to its opening, and explains why his presence would be valuable. Details such as its location, screens, seating, and facilities make the invitation relevant, while calling him a role model and noting that he could attract attendees supports the choice of guest. The purpose and polite tone remain clear throughout. To make the ideas more fully developed, specify the opening date or what you are asking him to do at the ceremony, and explain more precisely how his career or connection with audiences makes him especially suitable. The reasons are relevant, though some are expressed in broad terms such as “wonderful artist.”

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter has a clear progression: the invitation is introduced first, theatre details follow, then the reasons for choosing the actor and a courteous closing. Separate paragraphs help the reader distinguish these functions, and links such as “This new theatre” and “Your presence” make the sequence easy to follow. The organisation is effective overall, although some connections between details are quite basic, and the theatre description reads partly as a list of facilities. You could improve flow by linking the features to the experience they offer visitors, and by using a more explicit transition from the description to the invitation. The closing is appropriate and completes the letter clearly.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for a formal invitation and includes relevant terms such as “inauguration ceremony,” “spectators,” “performances,” and “arrangements.” These choices communicate the main ideas, but some expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “an ideal for youth” and “comfortable sittings” do not convey the intended meanings naturally, while “food corner” is an imprecise description of a theatre facility. There is also a word-choice error in “there choice.” Aim for more conventional collocations and precise terms, especially when describing the venue and the actor’s influence. A wider range of natural formal expressions would make the letter sound more polished.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple sentences and more developed structures, including “Your presence will make the event successful and attract more people.” Most sentences are understandable, and the message is not impeded, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “theatre … have” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “invite you for inauguration ceremony” needs an article and a more suitable preposition. “Theatre has food corner” also lacks articles, while “customer can purchase” does not agree in number with the general meaning. Practise checking articles, agreement, and sentence patterns after drafting. Adding a few accurately controlled complex sentences would also demonstrate greater grammatical range.
