Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three required points: you describe the Vancouver theatre and its facilities, invite Jazz to the opening on 20 October, and explain that the actor’s fame and success could inspire young performers. The purpose of the letter is clear and the details about the 500 seats, screen and planned shows make the invitation relevant. However, some points are less fully developed than others. For example, the reason Jazz is a suitable guest is expressed generally, and the request to speak about their success could be explained more clearly in relation to the event. A more explicit, polished invitation and a little more detail about the opening ceremony would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable structure, moving from the invitation to information about the theatre, the reason for choosing the actor, and a closing. Paragraphing helps separate these purposes, and connectors such as “Moreover” and “In addition” show how details relate. Overall, the message is easy to follow. However, some linking feels mechanical, and several ideas are crowded together without clear sentence boundaries, particularly in the theatre description and the paragraph beginning “You are main ideal.” The reference to the actor as an “honour guest” is also not consistently expressed. Use clearer sentence breaks and connect each paragraph’s details more naturally to improve progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main details, including “opening ceremony,” “modern building,” “sound system,” and “international” and “local” films. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “live shows” and describing the actor’s influence on young people. However, noticeable word-choice, spelling and collocation errors sometimes make the message less natural or briefly unclear. Examples include “main ideal,” “honour of gust,” “good massage,” and “high” for the sound system. Some phrases are also repetitive or imprecise, such as “beautiful and modern.” Build accuracy with common formal-letter collocations and check spelling and word forms; this will make your adequate range more precise and reliable.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can generally understand the intended message. Some sentence forms are effective, such as “I am writing a letter on behalf of ABC entertainment company.” However, there are some errors in verb forms, articles, agreement and sentence construction. For example, “We are open a new theatre” needs a suitable future or present-progressive form, while “There is 500 seats” requires plural agreement. The construction “people will be watch” also has an incorrect verb pattern. Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, with sentences joined together in places. Practise accurate future forms and article/plural patterns, then proofread sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at longer structures.
