Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
The letter clearly addresses all three requirements: it describes the theatre and its purpose, invites Mr Khan to inaugurate it, and explains why he is suitable. Details such as the theatre’s planned capacity and its role in giving stage artists a platform make the information relevant, while calling him an inspiration for young talent gives a clear reason for the invitation. The purpose and tone remain clear throughout. To strengthen the response further, develop a few details more precisely: for example, explain what makes his contribution to Pakistani dramas especially significant, or provide a proposed date or event detail rather than saying these will be shared later. Overall, the task is fully addressed, with some scope to extend the supporting ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear progression: the opening states its purpose, the next paragraph introduces the theatre, and the final body paragraph makes the invitation and explains the choice of guest. Paragraphing supports this sequence, and links such as “Last year,” “now,” and “because” help readers follow the ideas. The closing is also appropriate for a formal invitation. Some transitions are a little abrupt, particularly the move from the theatre’s construction status to the invitation. The sentence “Let me explain you about it” also does not function smoothly as a transition. Use a more natural signpost, such as “I would like to tell you more about the project,” and connect the theatre’s purpose more directly to the invitation. The overall organisation is clear, though cohesion could be more polished.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The response uses an adequate range for a formal invitation, including “inaugurate,” “production house,” “showcase their talent,” “guest of honor,” and “contributions.” These choices communicate the subject and maintain a suitably respectful tone. There are, however, several spelling errors—“planns,” “desinged,” “almot,” “televsion,” and “achknowledge”—and some word choices or collocations are not natural, notably “explain you about it” and “the infrastructure … has been completed.” These do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and control. Check spelling carefully and learn common formal combinations, such as “explain the project to you” and “construction has been completed.” More precise vocabulary for the theatre’s facilities or the actor’s influence would also add flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, and several sentences are controlled, such as “Last year we decided to open a theatre so that the stage artists can be given a chance to perform and showcase their talent.” The invitation and explanation are also expressed in a clear sequence. Some grammatical errors remain. In “which our entertainment company is planns to open,” the verb construction is faulty; write “which our entertainment company plans to open.” “Let me explain you about it” needs a different grammatical pattern: “Let me explain it to you.” There is also a tense inconsistency in “decided … so that … can be given”; “could be given” would fit the past-time framing. These errors rarely obscure meaning, but more consistent verb forms and accurate sentence patterns are needed for stronger control.
