Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter clearly fulfils all three requirements: it describes the theatre’s location and facilities, invites Mr Sharma to the opening on a specific date and time, and explains his suitability through his contribution to Indian cinema and popularity. The invitation is direct, and the details about the 800-seat venue and ribbon-cutting make the purpose clear. The reasons for choosing him are relevant, though the final point about attracting public attention and creating a memorable ceremony could be explained more fully or linked more specifically to his influence on young people. Overall, the message is complete and appropriately focused; developing that supporting explanation with one concrete detail would make the ideas more fully extended.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter follows a sensible sequence: purpose, theatre details, invitation, reasons for the choice, and a polite closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “Furthermore” and “We sincerely hope” guide the reader through the message. This gives the response a coherent overall arrangement. Some connections are less smooth, however: the opening sentence combines the company, invitation, and opening date in a crowded structure, while “Your presence” and “you open a theatre” repeat the invitation idea without a clear transition. The final explanation also moves quickly from the actor’s popularity to the hoped-for ceremony. More precise linking and clearer separation of related points would make progression more consistently natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for a formal invitation and includes relevant expressions such as “opening ceremony,” “seating capacity,” “advanced sound system,” and “outstanding contribution.” These choices communicate the main details, and the writer attempts more formal language. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision: “invite you a grand opening,” “help us good memorable open ceremony,” “comforable,” and “paticipation” are examples. “Cutting a ribbon” is also less natural than the conventional phrase “cut the ribbon.” These issues do not prevent understanding, but more accurate collocations and careful proofreading would make the letter sound more fluent and professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response uses a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences, including a conditional invitation (“we would be honoured if you could attend”) and a reason introduced by “as.” The intended meaning is generally understandable. However, some grammatical errors affect control: “invite you a grand opening” is missing a suitable preposition or verb pattern, “if i taking about” has an incorrect verb form, and “your participation would be attract” uses an incorrect construction. There are also issues with articles and sentence boundaries, such as “open a theatre” where the specific venue is meant, and the lowercase starts in “we” and “i.” Greater accuracy in verb forms and sentence construction, alongside more consistent punctuation and capitalisation, would strengthen the range already attempted.
