Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter covers all three required points: it describes the theatre, makes a clear invitation, and gives a reason for choosing the actor. Details such as “ten screens,” a cafeteria and parking, alongside modern sound and visual technology, make the venue reasonably clear. The invitation is also explicit, and the reference to the actor helping the writer’s foundation gives the choice a personal basis. However, the explanation of why the actor is suitable is less fully developed: the past assistance is mentioned, but its connection to opening the theatre or the actor’s public influence could be explained more clearly. The event details, such as the exact date or what the actor would do, could also be more specific.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the purpose, describes the theatre, makes the invitation, and then explains the choice of guest. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and connectors such as “In addition” and “Moreover” make some relationships clear. The progression is generally logical, though cohesion is occasionally mechanical, with several paragraphs beginning directly with a new point rather than linking it to the invitation. Some references are also unclear, particularly “that once you helped our foundation at some crisis,” where the event is not explained. A more natural sequence of details and clearer references to the actor’s past support would make the letter flow more smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses enough vocabulary to communicate the venue’s features and the writer’s appreciation, including “modern technology,” “visual effects,” and “helping nature.” It also attempts more formal expressions such as “opening ceremony” and “consideration.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, for example “innogarate,” “caffeteria,” “cheif,” and “committe.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “modern era theatre,” “a huge parking,” and “guest honour.” These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the main message, but more accurate collocations and careful spelling would make the letter sound more fluent and appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
There is a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, and most of the message remains understandable. For example, the sentence beginning “In addition” adds a further feature, while “The main reason that we decided to invite you…” attempts a longer explanatory structure. Some grammatical errors remain, however. “The main reason … is that your great humanity” needs a complete clause after “that,” and “As I remember, that once you helped…” has an unnecessary “that” and an incomplete construction. The closing “We look forward to celebrate” also needs a gerund after “look forward to.” Articles and prepositions in phrases such as “to the new movie hall” could be more consistently controlled. Greater accuracy in these patterns would strengthen the letter.
