Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address all three required points: you describe the theatre as being in the city centre with seating for 500, invite the actor to open it on November 10 at 10 a.m., and explain that their experience and appeal to younger people make them suitable. These details make the purpose clear. However, some information is difficult to understand, particularly the description of the seating, activities and food, and the reason that younger people would attend is not fully explained. The salutation “Dear sir” and closing “your sincerely” also do not fit smoothly with the task’s reference to a famous actor whose gender is unspecified. Develop the theatre details and the actor’s suitability more clearly, and use a polished, appropriately formal letter style.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The letter has a recognisable structure: an invitation, a paragraph about the theatre, a paragraph giving the opening details and reasons, and a closing. This helps the reader identify the main purpose. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear. For example, the sentence beginning “Highly individuals seat their” moves abruptly into inviting people of all ages, then into activities and meals, without clear links. The ideas about the actor’s experience and attracting younger people are also joined without explaining their relationship. Use one clear focus per paragraph, arrange details in a logical order, and connect related ideas with accurate linking phrases rather than relying on “and” or abrupt transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the task, including “entertainment company,” “officially open,” “seating,” “ceremony,” and “experienced.” This gives the letter a basic range of topic-related language. However, vocabulary is often repetitive or inaccurately combined, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. Phrases such as “open schedule,” “highly individuals seat,” “to much proving meals,” and “younger people attack and come” do not communicate the intended ideas clearly. Choose familiar words that fit together naturally, and check spelling and word forms. More precise expressions for the theatre’s facilities, planned performances, and the actor’s influence would make the invitation clearer and more professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and longer sentences, and the reader can understand the basic invitation and opening date. However, control is inconsistent: errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles, agreement, and punctuation frequently make parts difficult to interpret. For example, “which is open schedule of the next month” does not form a clear clause, while “we would very happy” is missing a verb and “you would be perfect person to opening” has errors in the article and verb pattern. Capitalisation is also inconsistent, as in “our new theater” after a full stop. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine related ideas using controlled clauses and check each sentence for a complete subject and verb.
