Dear Shradha,

I hope you are doing well and are in great spirits! I am writing to cordialy invite you for the inauguration ceremony which will officially open on 15 November.

The theatre has been built to promote local arts and culture and provide a platform for aspiring performers. It has a seating capacity of 300 people, modern lighting and sound systems, and a spacious stage suitable for plays, musical performances, and other cultural events. We are confident that this facility will encourage more people to participate in artistic activities.

We would be honoured, If you join our venue and formally inaugurate the theatre. The event will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a short cultural programme featuring some local artists dance and singing performaces.

We believe you would be the ideal person for this occasion because of your contribution to the arts and your commitment to supporting cultural activities in our community. Your presence would inspire young performers and make the event particularly memorable.

We sincerely hope you will accept our invitation. We look forward to hearing from you.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 8.0

The letter covers all three requirements clearly: it describes the theatre’s purpose and facilities, invites the actor to inaugurate it, and explains why her presence would be suitable. Details such as the 300-seat capacity, modern sound and lighting, and the event’s 10 a.m. start make the invitation informative, while the reference to her contribution to the arts supports the choice of guest. The purpose and tone remain clear throughout, and the ideas are developed well for this formal invitation. To make the response even more complete, specify the venue’s location and give a practical detail about the ceremony, such as how long the actor is expected to attend or whom to contact to confirm.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5

The letter is organised in a clear sequence: opening invitation, theatre description, event details, reason for choosing the actor, and a courteous closing. Each paragraph has a distinct purpose, so the reader can follow the message easily. Linking phrases such as “because of” and “We sincerely hope” help connect the explanation and conclusion without disrupting the flow. The progression is logical and the paragraphing is appropriate. To make cohesion more polished, connect the event details more smoothly to the invitation—for example, explain directly what role you hope the actor will play during the ceremony. Also check punctuation around “If” in “We would be honoured, If you join our venue”; the comma and capitalisation interrupt the sentence’s flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 7.5

The vocabulary is varied and appropriate to a formal invitation. Phrases such as “inauguration ceremony,” “seating capacity,” “aspiring performers,” and “cultural programme” convey the event and theatre details precisely, while “inspire young performers” gives a clear reason for inviting the actor. There are occasional word-choice, collocation, and spelling slips that keep the language from sounding consistently natural: “invite you for” is less idiomatic than “invite you to,” “join our venue” is unclear, and “performaces” is misspelled. “Cordially” is also misspelled in the opening. Choose conventional invitation phrasing and proofread less familiar words; this will preserve the range while improving accuracy and naturalness.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 7.0

The response uses a useful mix of sentence forms, including the relative clause “which will officially open” and the reason clause “because of your contribution to the arts.” Most sentences are complete and easy to understand, and the event details are expressed with generally sound control. A few grammatical and punctuation issues remain. In “We would be honoured, If you join our venue,” the comma is misplaced and “if” should not be capitalised; the conditional wording would also be more natural as “if you joined us” or “if you could join us.” In “featuring some local artists dance and singing,” the relationship between the artists and the activities needs a grammatical link, such as “featuring local artists performing dance and singing.” Refining these constructions would make the varied sentence structures more consistently accurate.
