Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You include the main purpose of the letter, give a useful detail about the theatre’s capacity and opening date, invite the actor, and offer a reason for choosing them: their rising profile could attract public attention. However, the task is only partially addressed because the invitation is not expressed clearly—the phrase “request for an invitation to our company” sounds as though you are asking to be invited. The reason that the actor is suitable is also brief, and the theatre’s features or opening event could be described further. The response is 15 words below the required minimum, which limits the opportunity to develop these points. State the invitation directly and expand on why the actor’s experience or reputation makes them an appropriate guest.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter follows a generally sensible order: it introduces the purpose, gives information about the theatre, explains why the actor is being approached, and closes politely. Paragraphing helps separate these functions. However, the progression is not always smooth: the second paragraph moves from preparations to the actor’s suitability and then to the company’s history without clearly linking these ideas. The final paragraph combines the invitation, its promotional benefit, and the expected public response in a crowded sentence. Improve the flow by giving each paragraph one clear purpose and using linking phrases to show how the company’s experience supports the invitation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for a formal invitation, including “grand opening,” “capacity,” “preparations,” and “public attention.” These choices communicate the general context, but several inaccurate or unnatural expressions reduce precision. For example, “on-coming opening” and “best fitted” do not express the intended meaning naturally, while “draw public attention a lots” is awkward. “Threatre” is also misspelled more than once, and “artists performances” is not formed correctly. Aim for conventional collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise phrases such as “upcoming opening,” “ideal person to inaugurate the theatre,” and “attract a large audience” would make the letter sound more professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes both simple sentences and some attempts at more complex structures, such as “It is a 300 capacity theatre, which will be opening…” and “As a global rising star you are…”. The main message remains understandable, but errors in sentence construction and punctuation are noticeable. In “request for an invitation,” the verb pattern is incorrect; “request an invitation” or “invite you” would be grammatical. The sentence beginning “As a global rising star…” is awkwardly structured, and there is no space after the full stops in “performance. Our” and “theatre.This.” There are also issues with articles and number forms in “a 300 capacity theatre” and “over 10years.” Use clearer sentence patterns and proofread punctuation and grammatical forms.
