Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Peter,
I am writing this letter to invite you for the new theatre which is going to open soon.
As you know, we alredy have a old cinema place but it is outdated now, so we are going to open new one nearby to the old one. This theatre will be equipped with better seating arrangments and have multiple screens now. Apart from that now we are also adding a big promotion screen for new upcoming movies.
So I would like you to invite you for the opening ceremony which is going to held on the October 3rd. We are really excited to seeing you in person as majority of guest is big fan of yours.
as you know you are really popular actor in this area specially among the children's. If you joined us during pening ceremony it would be really helpful for you as well as you have one new upcoming movie.
We would be really appreciated if you accept this formal invitation.
Kind regards,
Jay Beo

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover all three requested points: you describe the theatre’s improved seating and multiple screens, invite Peter to the opening on October 3rd, and explain that he is popular locally and has an upcoming film. The purpose is clear and the tone is generally suitable for a personal invitation. However, some points are less fully developed than others. The theatre description is brief, and the reason he would be a good choice is not clearly connected to opening the venue; saying his appearance could also help promote his film shifts attention toward his benefit. Explain more directly how his reputation or connection with local audiences would make the ceremony special, and add a practical detail such as the time or what you would like him to do at the event.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it opens with the invitation, gives information about the theatre, then discusses the ceremony and closes politely. Paragraphing helps separate these purposes, and linking phrases such as “Apart from that” and “So” show how ideas relate. Some connections are mechanical or unclear, however. “As you know” is repeated, and the shift from his popularity among children to the claim that attending would help him promote a film is not smoothly explained. The opening sentence also says “invite you for the new theatre,” which makes the relationship between the invitation and the venue unclear. Use more precise references and transitions, and make each paragraph develop one connected point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main details, including “outdated,” “seating arrangements,” “multiple screens,” and “opening ceremony.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the letter sound less natural. For example, “invite you for the new theatre” and “big promotion screen” are not idiomatic in this context, while “majority of guest” and “formal invitation” are awkward choices. There are also spelling errors such as “alredy,” “arrangments,” and “pening.” Aim for more precise phrases suited to a formal invitation, and proofread spelling carefully. More natural wording would make your message clearer and more polished.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including the explanation beginning “As you know” and the conditional “If you joined us…”. The main message remains understandable, but some errors in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence construction reduce accuracy. Examples include “we alredy have a old cinema place,” “is going to held,” “excited to seeing,” and “We would be really appreciated.” The conditional sentence also needs a clearer grammatical structure to express why his attendance would be valuable. Practise accurate invitation patterns such as “We would be delighted if you could attend” and check articles and verb forms when editing. Greater control of these structures would make the letter more fluent.
