Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The letter addresses all three requirements: it describes the theatre and its facilities, makes a clear invitation to open it, and explains why Mr Salman is suitable. Details such as the 800-seat capacity, planned performances, and his contribution to film make the purpose clear, while the reference to inspiring young performers adds relevant support. The invitation is appropriately direct and the tone is consistently respectful. To make the response more fully developed, clarify practical details of the ceremony, such as the time or what the guest is expected to do, and make the theatre information more precise. For example, “Karachi” is left as a fragment after the seating-capacity sentence, so its connection to the venue is unclear.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter is organised in a clear sequence: the opening states its purpose, the next paragraph introduces the theatre, and later paragraphs present the invitation and reasons for choosing the actor. Paragraphing supports this progression, and linking phrases such as “because of” and “as it would” help connect the explanation to its supporting points. The closing is also appropriate for a formal invitation. Some cohesion is less controlled in the theatre paragraph: “Karachi” appears as a disconnected fragment, interrupting the flow, and the shift from the venue’s description to the event could be smoother. Integrating the location into a complete sentence and using a clearer transition between the theatre details and ceremony would make the organisation more polished.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

The response uses an adequate range for a formal invitation and includes some suitably specific expressions, such as “inauguration ceremony,” “seating capacity,” “cultural venue,” and “considerable public attention.” These choices communicate the purpose effectively and show an attempt to use less common vocabulary. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “newly opened theatre” when the event is to open it, “state of art,” and “variety of performance.” “Lightning” also appears where the intended term is for theatre lighting. These slips do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Review common collocations and spelling, and choose wording that clearly distinguishes the theatre’s opening from its launch event.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

There is a useful mix of sentence forms, including the complex explanation beginning “I believe you would be the ideal person” and the conditional invitation “We would be honored if you could…”. Most of the message remains easy to follow, and the formal letter structure is controlled. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in noun phrases and sentence construction: “will host variety of performance” needs an article and plural forms, while “the 2nd theatre of our company in the heart of the city and has a seating capacity” creates an unclear connection between the clauses. “Karachi” is also punctuated as a fragment rather than incorporated into a sentence. Check articles, plural agreement, and clause boundaries; greater accuracy in these areas would strengthen the otherwise clear range.
