Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Raj kupoor,
I am writing to request you on the opening ceremony of new theatre at enterainment company. I would be pleasure to host you for this event.
The Global company is the famous entertainment company which is opening new theatre in my area which is going to be fully equipped with latest technology. The theatre contains three screens where people can enjoy their favourite movies.
Therefore, I decided to invite the famous actor to open this as actors are the best personality who can do this work. Company is also willing to give asked fees for your arrival.
The best person to open this would be none other than you because of your publicity and huge fan following. Your presence can help us to attract more public to let them know about this new theatre.
I hope you would accept my invitaion and I am looking forward to hearing from you about your decision.
Yours faithfully,
Raj.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three required points: you describe the theatre as having three screens and modern technology, invite the actor to the opening, and explain that his publicity and fan following could attract visitors. The purpose is clear throughout, and the invitation is relevant. The explanation of why he is suitable is the strongest part, while the theatre information and event details are less fully developed. For example, “opening ceremony” is mentioned, but you do not give a date or explain what the opening would involve. The claim that actors are “the best personality” is also general rather than specific to this actor. Adding a little more concrete information and personalising the reason for choosing him would make the letter more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it opens with the purpose, gives information about the theatre, explains the invitation, and closes with a request for a reply. Paragraphing helps separate these points, and phrases such as “Therefore” and “because of” show some awareness of how ideas connect. However, the progression is occasionally mechanical, and some links are not fully logical: “Therefore” does not clearly follow from the theatre description, while “actors are the best personality who can do this work” interrupts the direct invitation. The reference to “this” in “open this” is also not precise. Use more natural transitions and refer explicitly to the theatre or opening ceremony to make the connections clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main purpose, including “opening ceremony,” “fully equipped,” “latest technology,” and “fan following.” These choices show some range beyond very basic wording. However, several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make the letter sound less natural, such as “request you on the opening ceremony,” “give asked fees,” and “attract more public.” “Enterainment” and “invitaion” are also misspelled, and “famous” is repeated without much variation. Aim for conventional phrases used in formal invitations and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you express the event arrangements and the actor’s suitability with greater fluency.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “The Global company is the famous entertainment company which is opening new theatre” and a reason clause beginning “because of.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction and article use. For example, “I would be pleasure” needs an article, and “opening new theatre” also needs an article before “new theatre.” In “I decided to invite the famous actor to open this as actors are the best personality,” the connection between the clauses is awkward and the plural subject does not fit the singular “personality.” Practise accurate articles and agreement, and build longer sentences around clear, complete clauses.
