Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address the main purpose by inviting the actor and explaining that the theatre aims to support young people and give them opportunities. The reason that the actor is a role model is relevant, but the explanation remains general and the invitation lacks practical details, such as the opening date, location, or what you would like the guest to do. Information about the theatre is repeated rather than developed. The response is also 17 words below the required minimum, so it needs more detail to meet the task fully. Add specific information about the venue and event, and explain more clearly how the actor’s presence would inspire the young performers.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The letter has a recognisable structure: it opens with the purpose, gives information about the theatre, explains the invitation, and closes with a sign-off. However, the two paragraphs about the theatre repeat similar points about opportunities for young people, so the ideas do not progress clearly. The transition from describing the theatre to explaining why the actor is suitable is also abrupt. Some linking is attempted through phrases such as “because” and “so that,” but the overall organisation remains limited. Use separate paragraphs for the theatre, the invitation, and the actor’s suitability, and make each paragraph add a distinct piece of information.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses a small set of relevant words, including “theatre,” “opportunities,” “aspirations,” and “role model,” which makes the general message understandable. However, vocabulary is repetitive, particularly around “new opportunities” and young people, and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural: “Guest artiste,” “show case there talent,” and “actualise there dreams.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the intended meaning. Aim for more natural phrases suited to a formal invitation, such as “opening ceremony,” “showcase their talents,” and “achieve their ambitions.” Check spelling and word forms carefully, and vary repeated terms where possible.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentence structures, for example, “I really want you to be my Guest Artist … because your the role model of youths,” but control is inconsistent and the range remains limited. Errors in sentence boundaries and punctuation occur in “my new theatre. My new theatre,” while “many of them looks forward to you” has a subject–verb agreement error. The phrase “because your the role model” also needs the correct form “you’re,” and the opening “i am writing” requires capitalisation. These problems do not prevent the reader from understanding the main message, but they reduce accuracy. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine ideas with correctly formed clauses.
