Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify yourself as a representative of the company and make a clear invitation: “we ... would love to invite you to open our theater.” You also give a basic location and timing by saying it will open soon on Fifth Street. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: it gives no further information about the theatre or the opening event, and the reason for choosing the actor—“you have been one of our inspiration”—is stated but not explained or supported. The letter is also 64 words, below the required 150, so there is not enough development to cover the three requested points adequately. Add details about the venue and event, and explain the actor’s relevance to the company or community.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The ideas follow a basic, understandable order: you introduce yourself and the company, make the invitation, give a reason, and close politely. This simple progression helps the reader understand the purpose of the letter. However, the response is presented as one short block, with no clear paragraphing, and the links between ideas are limited. “One of the reason why” introduces the explanation, but that explanation is not developed, while “We hope to see you soon” moves quickly to the closing. To improve, use separate paragraphs for the theatre information, invitation and supporting reason, then add a suitable closing. Develop transitions so the letter feels like a complete, connected message rather than a sequence of brief statements.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is basic but generally sufficient to communicate the central purpose. Phrases such as “invite you to open our theater” and “opening soon” are relevant and understandable, and the polite closing is appropriate. The range is limited, however, with repeated use of general words such as “company,” “open,” and “theater.” The phrase “one of our inspiration” is also an inaccurate word choice/form that makes the intended meaning less natural. More precise language would help you describe the venue, event and actor’s contribution. For example, you could refer to a “newly built venue,” a “grand opening ceremony,” or the actor’s “influence on our artistic vision.” Check spelling conventions consistently, including the chosen form of “theatre/theater.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Most of the message uses short, simple sentence patterns, and the main invitation is understandable. There is an attempt at a more complex explanation in “One of the reason why we want you to be part of our opening is that…,” but the construction contains an agreement error: “One of the reason” should be “One of the reasons.” The opening also needs punctuation after the salutation (“Dear Mr Anderson,”), and “We from the company” is an awkwardly formed subject; “We at the company” would be clearer. The response shows limited variety in sentence structures, so the writing does not yet demonstrate flexible control. Practise accurate plural forms and build a few longer sentences using clauses to explain the invitation and its reasons.
