Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
The letter addresses all three requirements clearly: you describe the theatre’s capacity and facilities, invite Salman Khan to inaugurate it on a specific date, and explain that his presence could inspire young performers. The details about local artists and media also help make the invitation feel purposeful. The reason for choosing him is relevant, but it is expressed quite generally; explaining more specifically how his career or public profile connects with the theatre’s aims would develop this point further. The opening and closing are appropriate for a formal invitation. Overall, the task is fully addressed and the main ideas are supported, although the justification for the guest could be more individualised and precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information follows a clear, logical sequence: you introduce the company and theatre, describe its facilities, make the invitation, and then explain why the actor is suitable. Separate paragraphs help the reader follow each stage, and phrases such as “We would be honoured” and “We believe” signal the purpose of the later paragraphs. The progression is easy to understand throughout. Some links between ideas are quite basic, however, and the first paragraph’s “actually” and “So” make the transition sound conversational rather than smoothly formal. You could improve cohesion by using more precise links and ensuring punctuation consistently separates sentences, while keeping the effective paragraph structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use a suitable range of vocabulary for a formal invitation, including “seating capacity,” “advanced sound and lighting system,” “inaugurate,” and “media representatives.” These choices communicate the theatre’s features and the event’s purpose clearly, and some are appropriately specific to the context. However, spelling and word-choice errors reduce the accuracy and polish of the letter: “exellent,” “musicles,” and “espire” should be corrected, while “performing Art Centre” and “Event cordinator” need more conventional forms. “Several personalities” is understandable but less natural in this context than “industry figures.” Greater control of spelling, collocation, and formal phrasing would make the vocabulary more precise and flexible.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes both simple statements and longer structures, such as “We would be honoured if you could attend…” and the sentence describing the performances. Meaning remains clear, but grammatical control is uneven, with errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “I m working an entertainment company” needs a correct verb pattern and preposition, and “We plans to host” has a subject–verb agreement error. The opening also joins ideas with “actually” and “So” in a way that creates a run-on feel. Capitalisation and spacing around sentence punctuation are inconsistent. Practise accurate basic clauses and then build longer sentences with controlled linking; this will improve reliability while preserving the range you are attempting.
