Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three required points: you describe the theatre as a venue for young people to develop acting skills, invite the actor to be chief guest, and explain that their role in a recent blockbuster could inspire young people. These details make the letter relevant and its purpose clear. However, the invitation itself could be more specific: state directly that you would like the actor to perform the opening ceremony, and provide a proposed date or explain that one can be arranged. The theatre’s facilities or programme are also not described, so its information remains limited. The reason for choosing this actor is relevant but would be stronger if you explained more clearly how their experience or public profile would benefit the young performers.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The ideas follow a generally sensible order: you introduce the company and event, describe the theatre, then explain the invitation and the actor’s suitability. This helps the reader understand the purpose. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the different functions of the letter are not clearly separated. Some links are also awkward or unclear, particularly “therefore we are moving towards you,” and the shift from the company’s history to its previous theatre openings is abrupt. Use separate paragraphs for the invitation, theatre details, and reasons for choosing the actor, and connect them with clearer transitions. A conventional closing and a more explicit final request would also give the letter a more complete progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “chief guest,” “designated,” “protagonist,” and “blockbuster.” These choices show an effort to be specific, but several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits clarity: “enhance the beauty of the event” does not clearly explain the actor’s role, and “moving towards you” is not an idiomatic way to say you selected the actor. There are also spelling errors such as “organisatation,” “identifiying,” and “Yow,” alongside imprecise wording such as “sci-fi gener.” Choose familiar, accurate collocations rather than ambitious phrases that do not fit the meaning. More precise terms for the theatre’s purpose and the actor’s contribution would make the letter more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the clause beginning “Although we were working on drama and reality…” and the sentence explaining why you chose the actor. The main message is usually understandable, but errors in verb forms, tense, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to affect fluency. For example, “We are operating this firm since 1992” needs a present perfect form, while “our young kids will got a chance” combines incompatible verb forms. The opening sentence also has an unclear structure, and punctuation spacing is inconsistent. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, consistent tense, and correct verb form after modal verbs such as “will.”
