Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover the three requested points: you describe the venue and its location, invite Mr Khan to the opening, and explain that his reputation and contribution to the film industry make him a suitable guest. The invitation is clear, and the reason for choosing him is relevant. However, the theatre’s features and the opening event are only briefly described, while the reasons he would be a good person to open it are repeated rather than developed with specific detail. The response also contains 132 words, below the required 150, so the letter needs more relevant information. Add details such as the theatre’s facilities, the date or programme, and how his presence would inspire local performers.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the invitation, gives information about the venue, explains why the actor is suitable, and closes politely. Separate paragraphs help the reader follow these stages. Some links between ideas are less clear, however. For example, “Considering the needs of local people” does not explain what those needs are or how the theatre meets them, and the final two body paragraphs repeat similar praise without a clear progression. Develop each paragraph around one distinct point and use clearer connections between the venue’s purpose and the actor’s role. This would make the organisation feel less repetitive while preserving the straightforward structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for a formal invitation, including “opening ceremony,” “presence,” “recognition,” and “contribution.” These choices make the purpose and tone understandable. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “music industries,” “theatre artist,” and “valuable experience for all of visitors.” Spelling errors in “suitble,” “contrubution,” and “valauble” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise expressions connected to the venue and event, and check spelling carefully. For example, describe the surrounding area accurately and explain how the actor’s career has influenced audiences or performers rather than relying on general praise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple sentences and more complex forms, including “It would be really grateful if you become a part of this opening” and “Your contribution … who bring fame in the industry.” The intended meaning is usually recoverable, but some errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles, and agreement make the letter less accurate. For instance, the invitation needs a subject (“I would be grateful”), and the relative clause about the contribution does not agree with its antecedent. There are also missing or misplaced articles in phrases such as “opening ceremony of new cinema theatre.” Practise accurate conditional invitations and relative clauses, and proofread punctuation and spacing around commas and full stops.
