Dear........,
Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Shivam,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to inform you that I am opening a new drama theatre in the month of November. The theatre's name is Ineact Theatre; it will be located in a prime location in Drama Village near our local radio station's office. Ineact is my dream project, and it features modern-technology stage effects; the seats are all recliners, and the green room is also significantly spacious. I would be extremely delighted if my theatre is inaugurated by you. As everyone appreciates your work and the tremendous performances delivered by you over the years, it is considered a substantial contribution to the film industry. In an interview, you mentioned that you started you acting career with local drama companies and later on moved to movies, I believe people will see you as a role model. Moreover, it would be great if you could spend some time with all the aspirants who want to be professional actors and can learn from your experiences. Hope to see you soon. Thank You.
Yours Truly

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 8.0
The letter covers all three required points clearly. You describe the theatre’s opening in November, its location and facilities, invite Shivam to inaugurate it, and explain his suitability through his acting career and potential influence on aspiring performers. The reasons are relevant and developed: his beginnings with local drama companies make him a credible role model, while meeting young actors would add value to the event. This gives the letter a clear purpose and makes the invitation persuasive. To strengthen it further, make the practical invitation more specific—for example, indicate a proposed date or ask whether he is available—so the recipient knows what response is needed. Overall, the task is addressed fully and the ideas are well supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The information follows a sensible sequence: you introduce the theatre, describe its features, make the invitation, and then explain why the actor is suitable. Linking phrases such as “Moreover” help connect the supporting reasons, and the letter format is clear. However, nearly all the content is presented in one long paragraph, so the shift from describing the venue to making the invitation is not visually clear. Some connections also feel mechanical, particularly the move from the actor’s career history to the claim that people will see him as a role model. Use separate paragraphs for the theatre details, invitation and reasons, and make the relationship between ideas explicit. This would improve the flow and clarity of referencing.
Lexical Resource: Band 7.0
You use a good range of vocabulary for the purpose, including “prime location,” “recliners,” “inaugurated,” “substantial contribution,” and “aspirants.” These choices help convey the theatre’s features and the actor’s professional standing, and the meaning remains clear throughout. There are occasional awkward or imprecise collocations: “modern-technology stage effects” is not a natural phrase, and “it is considered a substantial contribution” does not clearly identify what “it” refers to. “Professional actors” is also more natural than “professional actors” only if describing the career goal as becoming one; consider phrasing this more directly. Aim for natural combinations and precise references, rather than choosing formal-sounding words where a simpler expression would be clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The letter includes a mix of simple and complex structures, such as “I would be extremely delighted if my theatre is inaugurated by you” and the sentence explaining the actor’s career path. Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems remain. In “you started you acting career,” the possessive should be “your”; the sentence beginning “In an interview” also joins two independent ideas with a comma, so use a full stop or a suitable conjunction. “I am opening” is less appropriate for a theatre that is planned to open soon; “we are opening” or “will open” would express this more clearly. These are generally understandable, but correcting them would make the writing more controlled and accurate.
