Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The letter makes the central purpose clear: you invite Mr Cooper to attend the theatre opening and explain that his reputation as “the king of drama” makes him a suitable guest. However, the response addresses the task only minimally. The theatre is described only as being “about suspense and drama”; there is no useful information about its location, size, facilities, or opening date, and the invitation does not clearly ask him to perform the opening. The reason for choosing him is also brief and unsupported. The response contains 79 words, so it does not meet the required minimum of 150. Develop each bullet point with specific details, and make the invitation and requested role explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The main ideas appear in a broadly sensible order: you introduce the plan, describe the theatre, and give a reason for inviting the actor. The opening and closing also help identify the text as a letter. However, the progression is very brief, and the second paragraph begins abruptly with “theater is about suspense and drama,” without a clear link to the company’s plan. The invitation and explanation are compressed into one sentence, so the reader has little guidance through the purpose of the letter. Use separate paragraphs for the theatre details, the invitation, and your reasons, and connect them with clear transitions such as “In addition” or “For this reason.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “guest of honour,” “opening ceremony,” and “king of drama,” which help communicate the invitation and the actor’s reputation. However, the range is limited, and several choices or spelling errors reduce the polish of the letter: “sepcia” appears to mean “special,” while “join us their” is not the intended expression. “Theater is about suspense and drama” is also vague and does not clearly describe the venue or its programme. Choose precise terms for the theatre and event, such as its productions, stage, or opening night, and check spelling carefully. A wider set of formal invitation phrases would make the letter more natural and appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response uses simple sentence forms that generally allow the reader to understand the main message, and the conditional phrase “it would be an honour if you can be our guest” shows an attempt to express a polite request. However, the range is narrow, with little variation in sentence structure. There are also errors in sentence construction and punctuation: “Hope you are doing well” omits the subject, “theater is about suspense and drama” begins without a capital letter, and “regards” should be capitalised as a sign-off. The conditional would be more accurate as “it would be an honour if you could attend.” Practise combining details into complete, varied sentences and check capitalisation and punctuation.
