Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The letter addresses all three required points: it describes the theatre’s location, opening date, capacity and facilities; makes a clear invitation; and explains why the actor is suitable by referring to his contribution to Marvel and his popularity. The purpose and tone are appropriate, and the details about the ceremony make the invitation concrete. The reasons for choosing him are relevant, though “your contribution … is very big” and the claim that his journey will attract a worldwide audience are asserted rather than developed with a specific example. To strengthen the response further, explain briefly how his work or public influence connects with the theatre’s programme or audience, while keeping the invitation direct and personal.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information follows a clear, useful sequence: the opening purpose comes first, followed by theatre details, the invitation and the reason for selecting the actor. Separate paragraphs help the reader identify each stage, and the closing is appropriate. Connections such as “We would be honoured” and “We hope you will accept” support the letter’s progression. Some sentences, however, pack several details together, particularly the description of the facilities and the ceremony, so the relationships between those details are not always smooth. The final paragraph also repeats the invitation’s positive tone without adding much progression. Use clearer sentence boundaries and link each paragraph’s details more deliberately to make the organisation feel more polished.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the purpose and includes relevant terms such as “opening ceremony,” “capacity,” “3D sound system” and “audience.” These choices make the theatre and event understandable. There are also attempts at more descriptive language, including “modern technology” and “inspiring journey,” but some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or too general: “newly build theatre,” “comfortable sitting,” “advanced lightning” and “contribution … is very big.” Such phrasing limits precision, even though the intended meaning is generally clear. Aim for natural combinations and more specific descriptions—for example, describe the seating, lighting and the actor’s influence using established collocations rather than broad or literal expressions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and more extended sentence forms, and the main message remains clear. For example, the opening sentence states the purpose directly, while the sentence beginning “I believe you are the perfect person” combines a reason with supporting details. Some grammatical errors remain, including “invite you on the opening” and “newly build theatre”; the ceremony sentence also shifts from “will start” to “followed by delivering” and “give,” leaving the actions unevenly constructed. In “it has a total capacity,” the sentence begins with an incorrectly lower-case letter after a full stop. Work on consistent verb forms, sentence construction and punctuation, while retaining the clear basic structure already present.
