Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Mr. Salman Khan,
I am writing to invite you on the opening ceremony of a new theater established by Inphora company, which is situated in Goregaw. We cordially invite you for the inaguration ceremony of this theater on the 5th of November.
This theater has built with a novel 3D technology, which would be of a great interest for the audience. Also it is built near the metro station so commuting would be easy for the public. There is seating arrangement for approximately 300 people at a time.
I would be grateful if you could make your presence at this ceremony. We admire you for your acting skills and your astonishing personality.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could give us some of your precious time for the opening of this theater. As you are a popular actor and this would be beneficial for as many people will get attracted to join this occasion.
I am looking forward to your favourable response.
Yours truly,
Manpreet kaur (Senior manager)

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three requirements: it describes the theatre’s 3D technology, location and seating, makes a clear invitation for the opening on 5 November, and explains that Salman Khan’s acting and popularity would attract people. These details make the response relevant and purposeful. The explanation of why he is a suitable guest is less fully developed, however: admiration for his acting and personality is stated, but not connected to a specific contribution he could make to the event or to the theatre’s aims. The invitation is also repeated in several sentences. To strengthen the response further, develop the reason for choosing him and make the requested role—formally opening the theatre—especially explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The information is arranged in a generally clear sequence: the opening invitation and date come first, followed by theatre details, reasons for inviting the actor, and a closing. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these functions. However, the invitation is repeated in the first and third paragraphs, and the final reason beginning “As you are a popular actor” partly restates the earlier praise rather than advancing the message. The link “Also” is understandable but basic, while “As” introduces a sentence that is awkwardly connected to the preceding request. Reduce repetition and use clearer links between the actor’s popularity and the expected benefit to the event to make progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The response has an adequate range for a formal invitation and includes some suitable expressions, such as “cordially invite,” “commuting,” “astonishing personality,” and “favourable response.” The theatre’s features are also described with relevant vocabulary. Some choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “invite you on the opening ceremony,” “inaguration ceremony,” and “give us some of your precious time.” “This theater” is repeated, and “beneficial” is vague in the context of attracting attendees. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, but more precise, natural phrasing would improve control. Check spelling carefully and choose expressions that directly describe the actor’s role and the event’s appeal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
There is a mix of simple sentences and more complex forms, including the relative clause “which is situated in Goregaw” and the conditional request “I would be grateful if you could…”. The message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors are present. For example, “This theater has built” needs a passive construction (“has been built”), and “as many people will get attracted” has an awkward clause structure; a clearer version would be “because many people would be attracted.” The sentence beginning “As you are a popular actor” is also not smoothly joined to the preceding sentence. Review passive verb forms, clause connections, and sentence boundaries while retaining the useful variety of structures already attempted.
