Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three requirements: it describes the Mumbai theatre, invites the actor to attend its opening, and explains that the actor’s career and influence make them a suitable guest. Details such as the fifteen screens, seating, 3D viewing and photo gallery make the description relevant, while the invitation and opening time are clear. The reason for choosing this actor is also appropriate, but it is less fully developed than the theatre description: explain more specifically how their work or public profile connects with the company or its audience. The opening “Dear Sir” is polite but does not reflect the prompt’s reference to a particular actor; using the actor’s name would make the letter more personal. Overall, the main purpose is clear, though some ideas could be extended and made more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The information is arranged in a sensible sequence: the theatre is introduced first, followed by the invitation, the reason for selecting the actor, and a courteous closing. Separate paragraphs help the reader identify these stages, and phrases such as “Besides that” and “One reason” signal relationships between ideas. However, some linking is mechanical, and the final paragraph combines the reason for the invitation with the ceremony time, which would be clearer if the event details were grouped together. The reference in “which is located centre of the theatre” is also not immediately clear. Use more natural transitions and ensure each paragraph develops one main purpose to make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses enough vocabulary to communicate the main details, including “photo gallery,” “opening ceremony,” “inspiration,” and “memorable.” There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “biggest theatre,” although some choices are inaccurate or unnatural and reduce precision. Examples include “3D videoes for a free,” “Best part in theatre,” and “successful career in film industry.” Spelling errors such as “Maharastra,” “sucessful,” and “cermony” are noticeable, as are the repeated use of “theatre” and general words such as “amazing.” Choose more precise collocations and check spelling; this would make the letter sound more fluent and appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes mostly straightforward sentences and some attempts to connect ideas, for example, “You have done amazing acting and motivate many people.” The overall meaning remains understandable, but there are some errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles and prepositions. In “We would like to you to come,” remove “to” after “like”; “made us to invite you” should be “led us to invite you”; and “Our opening ceremony is staring at 9AM on next Monday” needs a corrected verb form and more natural time phrasing. The sentence about the 3D videos also needs a clearer grammatical structure. Practise accurate complex sentences and review articles and prepositions while keeping the message direct.
