Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you describe the theatre and its location, give the opening date, and explain why the actor is a suitable guest by referring to their acting and charitable work. These details make the invitation relevant and clear. The theatre description is the most developed part, with its 20 rooms and screening formats, while the reason for choosing this actor is less fully supported: the praise is positive but general, and the link between their public profile and the theatre’s opening could be explained more specifically. The invitation itself is understandable, though a more direct, polished request and a clear indication of what you would like the actor to do at the event would strengthen it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: introduction and theatre details, the invitation and date, reasons for inviting the actor, then a closing. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and phrases such as “I am writing to invite you” and “I would like to invite you” make the purpose apparent. Some links between ideas are abrupt, however. For example, the move from the theatre’s facilities to the opening date is not explicitly connected, and the final paragraph shifts quickly from the actor’s qualities to the audience’s excitement. There is also some repetition of the invitation and praise. Use a few more precise transitions and develop each paragraph around one connected point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main details, including “opening,” “premier,” “remarkable actor,” “special effects,” and “role model.” There are also attempts at more specific language about the venue and the actor’s contribution. However, spelling errors such as “entertainement,” “reputaion,” “appriciate,” and “execellent” are noticeable, and several expressions are not natural in this context, including “opening our new theatre behalf of my company” and “providing service to people.” These choices sometimes make the letter less polished, even though the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Work on accurate spelling and common collocations, and choose more formal, precise wording for a professional invitation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The letter includes mostly straightforward sentences and some attempts to combine ideas, such as the sentence explaining why the actor is admired. The overall meaning can usually be followed, but errors in sentence structure and basic grammar occur across the response. Examples include “invite you for the opening,” “Its been 20 year,” “Company have,” and “It going to one of big in whole city”; these need more accurate verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. The opening sentence also lacks a clear grammatical connection between the invitation and the company. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add complex clauses while checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and prepositions.
