Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The letter addresses all three requirements: it describes the theatre, invites Mike to open it, and explains his suitability by referring to his success and influence in entertainment. The invitation is clear in “I would like to invite you,” and the details about the sound system and seating make the venue more tangible. However, some points are only briefly developed. For example, the claim that he understands “all types of musics” is not clearly connected to why he would be an effective person to open this particular theatre. To strengthen the response, explain more specifically how his career, audience appeal, or contribution to the arts would make the opening meaningful. The purpose is clear throughout, with some ideas developed more fully than others.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: the first paragraph introduces the theatre, the second makes the invitation and gives reasons, and the final paragraph closes politely. Linking expressions such as “Apart from that” and “Furthermore” help show how ideas relate. The progression is generally easy to follow, although some connections feel mechanical, and the second paragraph combines the invitation with several reasons without much separation. “The best thing I like the most about you” also makes the relationship between the preceding praise and the specific reason less smooth. Use a more direct transition and organise the reasons in a clearer sequence—for example, first explain his public influence, then connect his artistic experience to the theatre’s purpose.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task and includes relevant terms such as “opening ceremony,” “advanced sound system,” “spacious,” and “influenced.” These choices communicate the main information, and the writer attempts some more specific language about the venue and the actor’s qualities. However, several word-choice, collocation, and word-form errors reduce naturalness: “give you invitation,” “fully furnished,” “delightful,” and “all types of musics” are not well controlled in context. “Traditional” seats is also unclear as a description of their comfort. Aim for more natural combinations and precise descriptions, such as “extend an invitation,” “well-equipped,” and “a wide range of musical styles.” The meaning remains understandable, but greater accuracy would make the letter more polished.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple sentences and more developed structures, including “Although seats are traditional, they are more comfortable…” and “as you have achieved…” This gives the letter some variety, and the main message is generally clear. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, verb forms, agreement, and plural forms. For instance, “The new theatre fully furnished” needs a finite verb, while “a special types of seats are installed” has a mismatch between the article and plural noun. “I would like to invite you to join opening ceremony” also needs an article. Review these patterns and check each sentence for a complete verb and consistent singular or plural forms. More accurate control of these structures would improve the overall fluency.
