Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you describe the theatre as a place for new performers to learn, invite Dev to the opening on 20 December, and explain that his standing in Punjabi cinema could attract and motivate aspiring actors. The reference to his opening your previous theatre also gives the invitation a personal reason. These details make the purpose clear and relevant. However, the theatre’s features and the event itself are only briefly described, and the reasons for choosing him could be developed more specifically—for example, by linking his career or influence to the theatre’s aims. This covers the task well overall, but some ideas remain less fully developed than others.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: it introduces the theatre and its purpose, makes the invitation, explains why Dev is suitable, and closes politely. Paragraphing supports these stages, and connectors such as “Moreover” and “Hence” help show relationships between ideas. The progression is generally easy to follow, though some links feel mechanical, and the reference to the invitation card in the email is not fully clear. The final paragraph repeats the hope that he will attend without adding a new detail. To strengthen the flow, make transitions more natural and ensure each paragraph advances the invitation rather than restating it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “opening ceremony,” “precious time,” “Punjabi cinema,” and “acting profession,” so the reader can understand the purpose and context. There are also attempts at more formal expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are noticeably inaccurate or unnatural, such as “Chief Guest,” “new generations,” “all age groups have your craze,” and “make our event rememberable.” These choices sometimes make the message less fluent, even though the intended meaning is usually recoverable. Aim for conventional letter-writing phrases and check whether words naturally combine in English; more precise, idiomatic choices would make the invitation sound more polished.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple sentences and longer clauses, including the conditional invitation and the explanation of how Dev’s attendance could influence aspiring actors. The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make the reader pause. Examples include “I am writing to inviting,” “if you will give us,” “we were open our previous theatre,” and “we are really feel proud.” These involve verb forms, tense choices, and clause construction. Practise using “to” plus the base verb, and use appropriate past or present forms in conditional sentences. More consistently accurate sentence patterns would improve clarity while preserving the range you are attempting.
