Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to invite you on behalf of our entertainment company "let's enjoy", which is going to open a new theatre in the city.
This is one of the largest theatre in the country and it has the capacity of almost five thousand individuals. The seating of the theatre are very comfortable and it has a beautiful view of the city, because it is located on the top floor.
I would like you to attend the opening ceremony as a "chief guest" and embark this new journey at your hands.
Your presence will gather big crowd, because you are one of the famous actors of our country. Additionally, all social media influencers will come to cover the ceremony, which will help in the promotion of our company.
I am looking forward to a positive response from you.
Yours sincerely,
Asad khan

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter covers all three required points: it describes the theatre’s size, seating and location, invites the actor to attend as “chief guest,” and explains that their fame could attract a crowd and media attention. These details make the invitation relevant and give it a clear purpose. The explanation of why this particular actor would be a good choice, however, is mainly promotional: the focus is on the crowd and company publicity rather than the actor’s qualities or connection to the theatre. The theatre information is also somewhat general. To strengthen the response, develop these points with a specific reason the actor is suited to inaugurate the venue and a little more detail about the opening event. The task is addressed, but some ideas are less fully developed than others.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information follows a clear, sensible order: the opening purpose is stated first, the theatre is described next, and the invitation and reasons follow. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, while phrases such as “Additionally” and “I am looking forward to” guide the reader through the letter. The overall progression is easy to follow. Some links are a little mechanical, however, and the reason for inviting the actor is presented as a single block rather than being developed in a more connected way. The sentence about social media coverage also shifts quickly from the actor’s appeal to the company’s promotion. A more natural transition explaining how the actor’s presence would benefit the event would make the cohesion more flexible and the progression more persuasive.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for a formal invitation and includes some useful task-specific expressions, such as “opening ceremony,” “capacity,” and “promotion.” The meaning remains clear throughout. There are also attempts at less common or formal phrasing, but some choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “embark this new journey at your hands” does not express the intended invitation naturally, and “gather big crowd” is an awkward collocation. “Individuals” is also less suitable than a straightforward term such as “people” in this context. These choices show some range, but precision and natural collocation are not consistent. Prefer familiar, accurate expressions where uncertain, and check whether formal phrases sound idiomatic in an invitation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple sentences and longer structures, including a reason clause with “because” and an additional point introduced by “Additionally.” Most sentences communicate their meaning, and the reader can follow the invitation without difficulty. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, agreement and plurals: “one of the largest theatre” needs a plural noun, and “The seating … are” has a subject–verb agreement problem. There are also missing or inconsistent spaces around punctuation, such as in “ceremony, which.” These errors do not generally impede understanding, but they limit accuracy. Review agreement with collective or singular subjects, article use, and punctuation spacing, then proofread each sentence for these patterns.
