Our new theatre, located in Jagraon, is a modern 500 seat venue designed to host numerous performances, including plays, musical concerts, comedy shows and cultural events. It has comfortable seating and excellent backstage facilities.

We would be honoured and pleased to have you at inauguration ceremony. The event is planned on 15 November and we would be delighted if you could give a short speech and cut the opening ribbon. We feel your presence will make this occasion more memorable.

I believe you would be an ideal match for this occasion as you are widely admired by public. People highly respects you and your work performances who loves music and singing as it encourages them. Your presence would also attract condsiderable audience and make this opening ceremony remarkable.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The letter addresses all three requirements: it describes the theatre as a modern 500-seat venue in Jagraon, invites Diljit to attend on 15 November and perform specific opening duties, and explains his appeal to the public. The invitation is clear and the reasons are relevant, particularly the point that his presence could attract an audience. These ideas are supported, though the explanation of why he is suitable is somewhat general: “People highly respects you” and the reference to people who love music do not fully show how his particular career or connection with the community makes him an ideal choice. Adding a more specific reason would make the support more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information follows a clear, sensible order: the purpose of the letter, details about the venue, the invitation, and reasons for choosing the actor. Separate paragraphs help the reader follow these stages, and the closing is appropriate. Linking phrases such as “I believe” and “I sincerely hope” guide the reader without disrupting the flow. Some connections within the suitability paragraph are less clear, especially the sentence beginning “People highly respects you,” where the relationship between public admiration, music, and the actor’s work is difficult to follow. Clarifying that link and using references more precisely would make the progression smoother and cohesion more consistently controlled.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The response uses an adequate range for a formal invitation, including “opening ceremony,” “backstage facilities,” “widely admired,” and “memorable.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and the tone is generally suitable. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “ideal match for this occasion,” “work performances,” and “considerable audience.” There is also a spelling error in “condsiderable.” More precise expressions would help the letter sound natural and polished; for example, describe the actor as an “ideal choice,” refer to his “performances,” and say his presence could “attract a large audience.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The letter includes both straightforward sentences and some more developed structures, such as “Our new theatre…is a modern 500 seat venue designed to host…” and the conditional invitation “We would be delighted if you could…”. Meaning remains clear overall, but some grammatical errors are noticeable. In “People highly respects you,” the plural subject requires “respect”; the following clause, “who loves music and singing,” also has an unclear subject and agreement. The opening description needs a space after the comma, and “at inauguration ceremony” needs an article or possessive determiner. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and clause construction, while retaining the useful variety of sentence forms.
