Dear Mr james,

I am writing this letter to formally invite you to open our theatre next week.

Our company Tags Entertainment will open a new theatre in davao city on December 28th 2026. The new theatre is very big and modern. And it has about 900 seats and has the best sound and lightning in our area. And we will show movies drama shows and concerts every week.

And we would be honored if you could come and open the theatre with us. The opening ceremony will start at 6pm in the evening. And it will take about 3 hours. There will be many journalists and vip guests in the event.

I think you would be a good person to open the theatre because you are very famous here in davao city Philippines. Many people here watch your movies tv shows and documentary guesting. If you open our theatre many people will come to watch shows and movies and this will help our business.

I look forward to hearing from you soon

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three requirements: you describe the theatre and its programme, invite the actor to the opening, and explain the value of their local popularity. The invitation is clear, and details such as the date, 900 seats and ceremony time make it relevant. Your reason that the actor could attract an audience and support the business is also appropriate, though it could be developed with a more personal link to their career or contribution to the arts. The letter’s purpose and polite tone are clear throughout. To strengthen the response further, make the invitation and supporting explanation more specific and persuasive, rather than relying mainly on the actor’s fame and the business benefit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter follows a sensible order: the purpose comes first, followed by theatre details, the ceremony invitation and your reason for choosing the actor. Separate paragraphs help the reader identify these parts. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical because several sentences begin with “And,” and the repeated use of “theatre” and “open” makes the progression less smooth. Some details could also be grouped more tightly—for example, the ceremony time and the guests belong naturally together. Use a wider range of linking expressions and vary references, such as “the venue” or “the event,” while keeping the sequence of information clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main details, and phrases such as “formally invite,” “opening ceremony” and “honored” suit a formal letter. However, the range is limited in places, and some choices are inaccurate or imprecise. “Lightning” should be “lighting,” while “documentary guesting” is an awkward expression for the actor’s appearances in documentaries. “Very big and modern” and “best sound” are also broad descriptions that could be made more precise. Capitalisation of names and places, including “James” and “Davao City,” needs attention. More precise venue and performance vocabulary would make the letter sound more polished and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The message is generally understandable, and you use both simple statements and a reason clause, as in “because you are very famous here.” Most sentence meanings are clear. However, the range of sentence structures is narrow, with many short statements joined by “And,” and some punctuation is missing in lists such as “movies drama shows and concerts.” There are also grammatical issues in “The opening ceremony will start at 6pm in the evening,” where the time expression is redundant, and “There will be many journalists and vip guests in the event,” where the preposition pattern is not natural. Aim to combine related ideas with accurate complex sentences and check punctuation and prepositions.
