Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I am writing this letter to invite you for the inauguration of a theater, which is going to be developed by my company.

To begin with, I am really enthusiastic to invite you for this caremony. We organized an event on 10th of the October.Your presence could attract more people in the opening. Crucially, I am working in an entertainment company for last three years. My company has decided to construct a theatre in the countryside beacuse of lack of recreational activities. The new theatre is spacious and entailed all the latest technical equipment and features including advanced seating arrangements, audio-visual effects and so on. Apart from this, the national and international films would be released there.

Furthermore, we would appreciate if you can attend the event and inspire citizens to enjoy this new development. Intrestingly, it would be a win-win situation for your film promotion and for the managing team of the theatre .Hence, I specially invite you to attend the opening ceremony.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Anjali

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover the three main requirements: you describe the theatre and its facilities, invite the actor to the opening, and explain that their presence could attract people and support promotion. The countryside location and lack of recreational activities also give useful context. However, the invitation is not fully specific: “we organized an event on 10th of the October” is unclear about the year and whether this is the opening date, and the actor is not addressed by name. The reason they would be a suitable person is only partly developed; explain more directly how their reputation, career, or connection with the community makes them an ideal choice. These relevant but unevenly developed details keep the response from being fully persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a recognisable structure, moving from the purpose of writing to information about the theatre, the invitation, and a polite closing. Paragraph breaks help distinguish the main points, and linking expressions such as “To begin with” and “Furthermore” guide the reader. However, some connections feel mechanical, and the sequence within the second paragraph is not always smooth: the event date and your enthusiasm appear before the theatre’s background and facilities. The sentence beginning “Crucially” also shifts abruptly to your employment. Improve progression by grouping the theatre details together, then giving the date and invitation, followed by a focused explanation of why this actor is appropriate. Check spacing around full stops to make the presentation clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a formal invitation, including “inauguration,” “recreational activities,” “technical equipment,” and “audio-visual effects.” These choices help communicate the theatre’s purpose and facilities. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “we would appreciate” and “win-win situation,” although the latter is rather informal for this letter and the phrasing around it is not fully natural. Several spelling errors—“caremony,” “beacuse,” and “Intrestingly”—reduce accuracy, while expressions such as “invite you for” and “theatre is spacious and entailed” show imprecise word choice or collocation. Aim for natural formal combinations and proofread spelling so your vocabulary sounds consistently appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use both simple and more developed sentence forms, including the relative clause in “a theater, which is going to be developed by my company” and the reason clause “because of lack of recreational activities.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “I am working … for last three years” needs a present perfect form and an article (“I have been working … for the last three years”), while “we would appreciate if you can attend” needs a more suitable conditional construction (“we would appreciate it if you could attend”). There are also article and preposition issues in “on 10th of the October” and “invite you for.” Review tense, articles, and punctuation, especially the missing space after the full stop in “October.Your.”
