Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three requirements: you describe the theatre’s location, capacity and facilities, invite Roland to cut the ribbon and speak, and explain that his acting career and dedication make him suitable. These details make the purpose clear and the invitation specific. The explanation of his suitability, however, is brief and somewhat general; you could connect his career more directly to the theatre’s cultural programme or its local audience. The opening information would also be clearer if you stated the company’s relationship to the venue and presented the event details in a more polished, formal way. Overall, the task is covered clearly, with some ideas supported more fully than others.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The information follows a sensible order: you introduce the company and venue, describe the theatre and opening event, then make the invitation and close. This progression helps the reader understand the purpose without difficulty. Paragraphing also separates the main stages of the letter. However, the first paragraph combines several details in a crowded sentence, and the transition from describing the event to explaining why Roland is suitable is quite abrupt. Some linking is achieved through repeated references to “the theatre” and “the inauguration,” but more varied, natural connections would make the letter flow more smoothly. The closing sentence is understandable, though a more complete sign-off would strengthen the letter’s overall organisation.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the invitation, including “seating capacity,” “luxurious interior,” “cultural fest,” and “officially inaugurate.” These choices communicate the venue and event details, and the reader can understand the intended meaning despite several spelling errors. Some wording is imprecise or unnatural, such as “dedication to your service,” while “small speech” is less suitable for a formal invitation. Spelling mistakes in words such as “inauguration,” “primarily,” and “successful” also reduce accuracy. Aim to use conventional formal collocations and check spelling carefully; this would make your vocabulary more precise and professional without requiring more complicated language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including the relative clause “which is primarily situated near the Lake Superior bridge” and the reason introduced by “due to.” The main message remains understandable. However, some grammatical and punctuation errors affect the letter’s polish: “invite to the theatre” is missing an object, “We hope you could accept” uses an unsuitable verb form, and “We look forward to hear” needs a gerund after “look forward to.” There are also problems with articles, spacing and sentence boundaries, for example in the opening sentence. Practise accurate invitation structures and review verb patterns, articles and punctuation; these corrections would improve control while preserving your range.
