Nowadays it's possible for people to buy many products or pay for treatments that help them to look younger.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's modern era and this fast paced society there are so many new established products that help the person to look more younger than of their age. Not only this, but also many new treatments have taken place that people get on their face to reduce age lines and skin treatment for younger look. So this treatment has both pros and cones in a person's life.

Youngers looking products are particularly beneficial for those people you are rich enough to get the treatments done again and again after a short span of time. This products can make the high class people to maintain their skin and look more young day by day as they are getting old. Moreover, these types of treatments are good for celebrities or the famous person those who are performing on screen to entertain others.

By looking into the negative sides of these products or treatment, as these services are huge in cost and cannot be taken by a normal income person. Treatments that are done using different types of machines or laser lights Shows the side effects such as damaged skin or burned skin after few years. If a person is not able to get treatment again after few months their skin looks more dull.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that these type of treatment or products should only be used by person who really needs it because of their profession, other all people should avoid it because it is expensive and start showing negative effect after few years of getting treatments.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt by discussing the pros and cons of anti-aging treatments. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are relevant. However, the development is somewhat limited. For example, the argument regarding 'high class people' is a bit simplistic, and the discussion on side effects could be more deeply explored with more specific examples or logical progression. While the task is addressed, the supporting points lack the depth required for a higher band score, as the arguments remain somewhat superficial and repetitive.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a clear progression of ideas from the benefits to the drawbacks. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Not only this, but also' and 'By looking into the negative sides'. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as 'This products' (should be 'These products') and 'other all people', which disrupts the flow of the text. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the transitions between sentences could be smoother.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'look more younger' (should be 'look younger'), 'youngers looking products', and 'huge in cost' (should be 'expensive' or 'costly'). The student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'side effects' and 'treatments', but the overall lexical range is limited, and the errors occasionally draw attention to themselves, though they do not impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('This products can make'), incorrect comparative forms ('look more younger'), and awkward phrasing ('the famous person those who are performing'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the text from reaching a higher band. While the meaning is usually clear, the grammatical control is inconsistent, and the errors are noticeable.
