Student answer (Band 6.5)
In contemporary times, the proliferation of products and medical procedures designed to preserve a youthful appearance has become a defining feature of modern consumer culture. I straongly disagree with the notion that this trend is a positive development, as it fundamentally distorts societal values and cultivates widespread psychological distress.
To begin with, the obsession with defyibg aging severely undermines mental wee-being by fostering chronic self -insecurity. When society normalizes the artificial erasure of natural signs og aging, it implicitly frames a completely normal biological milestone as a physical flaw that must be corrected. This creates an environment where individuals feel immense anxiety about their changing bodies. Instead of older age, consumers are trapped in a stressful, endless cycle of trying to meet unattainable aesthetic standards dictated by predatory marketing.
Futhermore, this phenomenon represents a major misallocation of personal and societal resources. This billions of dollars spent annually on cosmetic surgeries, botox, and unproven youth serums could instead be directed towards genuine health and wellness, such as nutrition, fitness, and chronic disease prevention. The anti-aging industry thrives by exploiting human vulnerability and the fear of getting older for commercial gain. Consequently, it promotes a superficial culture where an individual's worth is increasingly measured by their character, intellect, or societal contributions.
In conclusion, I firmly oppose the view that the rising availability of anti-aging treatments is beneficial. By institutionalizing an unnatural standard of beauty and diverting capital into superficial consumption, this trend proves highly detrimental to our collective well-being.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have clearly addressed the prompt by taking a strong stance against anti-aging trends. Your arguments regarding psychological distress and the misallocation of resources are well-developed and relevant. However, the response is 247 words, which falls just short of the 250-word minimum requirement. This minor omission impacts the task completion score. To reach a higher band, ensure you expand slightly on your supporting examples to comfortably exceed the word count, as failing to meet the minimum length is a penalty in Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two well-structured body paragraphs, and a concise conclusion. You use cohesive devices effectively, such as 'To begin with,' 'Furthermore,' and 'Consequently,' which help guide the reader through your argument. The progression of ideas is smooth and easy to follow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points. To improve further, ensure that the transition between your points remains consistent throughout the entire piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary, using sophisticated terms like 'proliferation,' 'distorts,' 'unattainable,' and 'institutionalizing.' This shows an awareness of style and precision. There are a few minor spelling errors, such as 'straongly,' 'defyibg,' 'wee-being,' 'og,' and 'Futhermore.' While these do not impede communication, they are noticeable. Focusing on proofreading to eliminate these slips will help you move into the higher band, as your command of academic vocabulary is otherwise quite strong.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a variety of complex sentence structures effectively, such as 'When society normalizes the artificial erasure of natural signs of aging, it implicitly frames...' and 'This billions of dollars spent... could instead be directed towards...'. Most of your sentences are error-free, though there is a minor grammatical slip with 'This billions of dollars' (should be 'These billions'). Your control over punctuation and sentence variety is generally good, contributing to a fluent reading experience.
