Student answer (Band 7.0)
In today's society, people have access to a wide range of products and cosmetic treatments designed to reduce the sign of ageing and help them maintain a youthful appearance. Although this trend can have some drawbacks, I believe that it is largely a positive development.
There are several reasons why this can be considered a good thing. First of all, these products and treatments can improve people's self confidence. This is because people often feel more comfortable when they are satisfied with their appearance. For example, a middle-aged person may use skincare products or receive a professional treatment before an important event. Therefore, they feel more confident when meeting other people. Secondly, modern treatments give people more choices about their appearance. In other words, individuals can decide whether they want tor educe signs of ageing according to their personal preferences. For example, some people choose non-surgical cosmetic treatments to reduce wrinkles. As a result, they may feel happier with their appearance.
However, this trend also have some negative aspects. One major disadvantage is that such treatments can be very expensive. This can happen because some people repeatedly spend large amounts of money on cosmetic procedures and expensive beauty products. To illustrate, a person may continue paying for various treatments in an attempt to maintain a youthful appearance.
In conclusion, although buying products and paying for treatments to look younger can have some negative effects, I believe that is is a positive development overall because it can improve people's confidence and give them greater freedom to choose how they look.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that the trend is largely positive. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact on self-confidence and personal freedom of choice. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. The discussion on the negative aspect (cost) is brief and could have been extended with more depth or a counter-argument to strengthen the overall position. While the task is fully addressed, the supporting arguments remain at a somewhat general level, which is characteristic of a Band 6.5 or 7.0 response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the positive and negative aspects. Cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', 'In other words', and 'However' are used effectively to guide the reader through the argument. The progression of ideas is clear, and the referencing is generally accurate. The structure is coherent throughout, meeting the requirements for a Band 7.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is sufficient for the task and allows for some precision, such as 'cosmetic treatments', 'maintain a youthful appearance', and 'non-surgical'. There are no significant errors in word choice that impede communication. However, the range of vocabulary is somewhat standard and lacks the more sophisticated or idiomatic expressions that would be required for a higher band score. The student uses 'reduce the sign of ageing' (should be 'signs') and 'tor educe' (typo), but these are minor slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is good control over basic grammar, and the meaning is always clear. There are a few minor errors, such as 'this trend also have' (should be 'has') and 'is is a positive' (typo). While the student attempts complex structures, the range is not particularly wide. The frequency of error-free sentences is high enough to suggest a solid grasp of grammar, but the lack of more varied, sophisticated sentence patterns keeps this in the Band 6.5 range.
