Student answer (Band 6.5)
In recent years, an increasing number of people have become more interested in products and treatments that can make them appear younger. Although these developments can improve people's confidence and provide certain benefits, I believe that their widespread use is a negative trend overall because of the financial pressure and unrealistic beauty standards they can create.
To commence with, first and foremost, looking younger can significatnly boost a person's self-confidence. For instance, someone who is unhappy with wrinkle or other visible signs of ageing may feel more comfortable in social situations after using skincare products or receiving a non-invasive cosmetic treatment. Furthermore, some treatment can have practical beneficial rather than simply imporve appearance. Procedures that enhance skin condition or correct certain age-related physical changes may help people feel healthier and more satisfied with their appearance. Thus, a above mentioned reasons that why people are more interested in those products.
To further side, the growing popularity of anti-ageing products and treatments can have serious drawbacks. One major concern is the financial burden they may place on consumers. To exapnd, many consmetic procedures require repeated appointments, while high-end skincare products can be expensive, encouraging people to spend substaintial amounts of money merely to maintain a youthful appearance. More importantly, the beauty industry can promote the unrealistic idea that ageing is something that should be avooid at all costs. As a result, some individuals may develop unneccessary anxiety about their appearance and constantly compare themselves with celebrities. For example, a middle-aged person might undergo several expensive procedures simply because they feel pressured to meet an artificial standard of beauty.
To recapitulate, although products and treatments designed to create younger appearance can enhance confidence and improve people's satisfaction with their looks, I consider their increasing popularity to be a negative development overall. People should be encouraged to age naturally and make informed choices rather than feeling compelled to spend excessive amounts of money to maintain a youthful appearance.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The student successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by presenting a clear, well-developed position on whether the trend of buying anti-ageing products and treatments is a positive or negative development. The introduction outlines a balanced view before taking a firm stance, which is maintained throughout the essay. The body paragraphs effectively explore both sides of the argument—acknowledging psychological and practical benefits while weighing them against the financial burden and unrealistic beauty standards. Ideas are supported by relevant explanations and examples, such as reference to social situations and middle-aged individuals feeling pressured. Although there is a minor grammatical slip in one transitional sentence (Thus, a above mentioned reasons...), the overall task response easily meets the criteria for Band 7.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay demonstrates clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Information and ideas are grouped into logical paragraphs, with a discernible introduction, two main body paragraphs addressing contrasting aspects, and a concluding summary. Cohesive devices are used effectively to guide the reader, such as To commence with, Furthermore, and To further side. However, paragraph transitions and opening phrases occasionally feel slightly repetitive or awkward (e.g., To commence with, first and foremost, and To further side instead of On the other hand), indicating minor mechanical cohesion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, maintaining overall coherence from start to finish, which aligns comfortably with a Band 7 score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The writer displays a sufficient range of vocabulary with some flexibility and precision, employing less common items such as non-invasive cosmetic treatment, financial burden, and artificial standard of beauty. While the lexical resource is generally adequate for discussing the topic, there are a few noticeable spelling errors and word-choice lapses, such as significatnly, wrinkle instead of wrinkles, beneficial rather than beneficial, imporve instead of improve, exapnd instead of expand, consmetic instead of cosmetic, substaintial instead of substantial, and avooid instead of avoid. Despite these spelling and occasional formulation errors, communication is never impeded, and the vocabulary remains appropriate for a Band 6.5 or solid 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, successfully employing relative clauses and conditional structures (e.g., someone who is unhappy with wrinkles..., although products and treatments... can enhance confidence). There is good control over punctuation, and many sentences are error-free. However, a number of grammatical and structural inaccuracies persist, such as some treatment can have practical beneficial rather than simply imporve appearance, a above mentioned reasons that why people, and avooid at all costs. These errors represent a mix of simple slips and slightly awkward phrasing, but they rarely impede communication. This performance fits comfortably within the Band 6 descriptor.
