Student answer (Band 5.0)

It's often said that personality reforms man's character. The modern man has various options for skincare items to get skin treatments, to have a smart and young look. It's good to get treatments for good looking, besides chemical side affects though.

On the one hand, we will discuss the advantages of purchasing healthcare products. Nowadays, there are a bunch of products available which looks similar, but from different companies and are affordable as well. So it's easy to get into any shop or buy online even. With the knowledge of full details of the product an individual is able to glow their face even without any other experts need in less time, as these are very easy to use. Eventhough, the technology helps alot. We can just go by the name of the item and watch the video about it's use. Sometimes, these beauty products are used so perfectly that we can judge the age of person. Even an old person looks so young when they get out from the saloons after care.

On the other hand, these skin care products become harmful when they contain degraded chemicals. These chemicals when used on our skin without correct information, results in rashes, bruieses or redness. Moreover, there are large queues for treatments and beauty care is very time consuming as well.

To sum up, every human made things have pros and cons, but it also depends on the use of the thing. Gaining full knowledge before implementing any product, especially on skin give good results.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of using products and treatments to look younger, ultimately presenting a discernible position. The candidate mentions affordable products, ease of use with technology, and the psychological benefits of looking younger, while also touching upon chemical side effects, rashes, and time consumption. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and superficial. For instance, the point regarding technology is vague, and the arguments lack deep elaboration and relevant specific examples from personal experience. While the prompt is addressed, the ideas are not fully extended, which places the response firmly in the band 5 territory.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into four paragraphs, including an introduction and conclusion, with a clear attempt to use transition markers such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and confusing sentences, such as 'It's often said that personality reforms man's character,' which has little relevance to the topic. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly with pronouns like 'these' and 'which' used ambiguously in sentences like 'Nowadays, there are a bunch of products available which looks similar, but from different companies'. Paragraphing is present, but the overall internal coherence within paragraphs is faulty and mechanical, leading to a score of 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'skin care items', 'good looking', 'degraded chemicals', and 'bruieses' (bruises). The candidate attempts to use some less common words like 'affordable' and 'consumption', but the overall range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. Frequent lexical errors, such as using 'saloons' instead of 'salons' and 'human made things', demonstrate restricted vocabulary control, which is characteristic of band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty. There are numerous grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('products available which looks similar'), missing articles ('without any other experts need'), and awkward phrasing ('especially on skin give good results'). Although the meaning can usually be understood despite the errors, the frequency of grammatical slips causes some difficulty for the reader and prevents the response from achieving a higher band score.
