Student answer (Band 5.5)

there has been onging debate about whether the buy products or pay for expensive treatments to look young. Some individuals think that there are other ways which make them look young without any expense. This eassy will discuss both the perspective.

On the one hand, people nowadays spend so much money on expensive treatments to look young because they feel confident. To explain it, individuals think if they look good or young they get more attention which bring more confident.Next, They also influence by the TV advertisements thats why they buy all the products which make them young. As a result they spend all their earnings into buying expensive treatments and pills.

On the other hand, people can aviod these type of products and look young without any medical pills or products. To elaborate it, people can include healthy diet to their day-to-meal and also do some exercise and yoga which heal them not from outside but also from deep inside. For example, servey conducted in 2025 shows that people who do yoga has less health issuse as compare to other who take expensive teartments.

In my opinion, its is not a good thing that individuals spending money to buy products which look them younger which make them totally dependented on them which later harm them if they stop consuming them or stop taking treatment.

In conclusion, both the views have their own value but still i believe that nowadays people buy products and pay for expensive treatments just to look young is totaly watse to money because there are number of ways which help them to look young without any products.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the issue (whether buying products and treatments to look younger is a good or bad thing) and presents a clear personal position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the first body paragraph mentions that people spend money to feel confident and are influenced by TV advertisements, but these points are not fully extended. Similarly, the counterargument touches upon diet and exercise, supported by a general reference to a survey, but lacks specific elaboration. The conclusion clearly states the writer's view that spending money on such treatments is a total waste. While all parts of the task are addressed, the depth of explanation aligns best with the Band 6 descriptor where relevant ideas are presented but remain slightly under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is divided into distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, a personal opinion paragraph, and a conclusion, showing an overall logical structure. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'To elaborate it', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the text, although some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the pronoun reference becomes muddled in 'which look them younger which make them totally dependented on them'. Paragraphing is sufficient, but logical progression suffers slightly from repetitive phrasing and minor structural awkwardness. This performance reflects the characteristics of Band 6, where cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic arguments about aging, treatments, and healthy lifestyles. However, there are frequent lexical and word-choice errors, such as 'onging debate' instead of 'ongoing', 'eassy' instead of 'essay', 'servey' instead of 'survey', and 'watse to money' instead of 'waste of money'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary like 'independented' (incorrect form) and 'treatments', but limited control leads to noticeable inaccuracies. The range of vocabulary is sufficient for communication but restricted in flexibility and precision, which places this response firmly at Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The text demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the response, with frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, and sentence construction. Examples include 'whether the buy products' (unnecessary article/verb clash), 'they also influence by' (passive voice error), 'spend all their earnings into buying' (preposition error), and 'individuals spending money... which look them younger' (fragmented and incorrect clause structure). While these errors do not completely impede overall understanding, they occur frequently and cause difficulty for the reader. This corresponds to the Band 5 descriptor, where frequent errors in complex structures are evident.
