Student answer (Band 6.0)
People are purchasing skin care products and also undergoing treatments in order to stay young. These days consumers are paying more attention towards appearance rather than buying healthy food to maintain their health. In this essay, I will discuss what are the benefits and consequences of this trend.
There are various reasons of buying skin care products and spending money on expensive treatments. First of all, for some people, especially celebrities whose good looking appearance entirely depend upon skin care treatments. In order to work on screen, they have to look young and eye-appealing for their audience. As a result, public who are impressed through promotional advertisements by these famous personalities are eagerly purchasing these skin care products. Therefore, nowadays for some people these beauty services help them to gain confidence for their profession.
On the other hand, skin products and treatments became necessity for some people. These services are not affordable for everyone and it causes financial burden. For example, individuals who used to spend money on make up products are now purchasing skin care so that the make up look flawless. In addition to this, sometimes these treatments create allergy reactions which make their skin worse. Therefore, this trend has negative consequences and people are blindly trusting skin treatments to look young.
To conclude, nowadays getting young skin is possible through skin care products and treatments. For some people it is a positive impact because of their profession and for others it might be negative as they are spending money from out of pocket.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the benefits and consequences of using products and treatments to look younger. The student establishes a clear position in the introduction and follows through in the body paragraphs. For instance, the first body paragraph highlights professional benefits, such as for celebrities who need to look youthful 'to work on screen,' while the second body paragraph explores the financial and physical downsides, such as 'financial burden' and 'allergy reactions.' However, the ideas could be developed with greater depth and clearer examples rather than relying on brief generalizations. Overall, the task is adequately addressed, aligning with the requirements for a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different viewpoints, such as professional benefits in paragraph two and financial drawbacks in paragraph three. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas, such as 'First of all,' 'As a result,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In addition to this.' However, some referencing is slightly awkward, such as 'public who are impressed through promotional advertisements,' and transitional phrases can occasionally feel a bit mechanical. Paragraph progression is generally logical, earning this section a solid Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms like 'consumers,' 'promotional advertisements,' 'financial burden,' and 'flawless.' However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'paying more attention towards appearance' instead of 'paying more attention to appearance,' 'good looking appearance entirely depend' (subject-verb agreement and phrasing), and 'allergy reactions' instead of 'allergic reactions.' These errors do not impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional and relative clauses like 'individuals who used to spend money on make up products are now purchasing skin care.' There are, however, several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'There are various reasons of buying' instead of 'reasons for buying,' 'whose good looking appearance entirely depend,' and 'spending money from out of pocket.' Punctuation and article usage also show occasional lapses. Because these errors occur regularly alongside correct complex structures, they fit the criteria for a Band 6.0.
