Student answer (Band 6.0)

In a recent time, it is possible for people to purchase several cosmetic items or pay for the anti-aging treatments that help them to look younger.

I believe that it is a positive trend as such products not only maintain healty skin condition but also improve lifestyle.

The main reason for why this trend is positive is that it improves overall skin health. Nowadays, due to sedentary lifestyles and unhealthy food habits people are looking more older that the actual age lead to wrinkles and creases in skin. This is because of insufficient nutrition and reduced physical activity. To solve this issue, many cosmetic items provide appropriate contents to nurture skin related concerns and made people to look younger than actual age. For example, a number of products are available as per individuals needs such as, vitamin E cream to impove skin glow. Additionally, treatmnet option like plastic surgery has become very common for anti-aging treatment. This option can improve people's lifestyle. Looking younger can boost person's confidence and personality, which can help them to left their attractive impression in work-fields.

However, I would not disregard the other aspect of this trend. This trend also have some downsides. The one of the most downside is that such products are very expensive and everyone can't afford it. Another reason is that adverse effect of the products or treatment. As all the products are not suitable for everyone, and sometime it may adversely affect people.

To conclude, although such products and treatments are expensive and risky to use, I believe that it is appropriate to buy such products and take advantages of modern treatment such as plastic surgery to look younger, because it fulfill overall deficiencies of human body and improve poeple's lifestyles.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the positive and negative aspects of products and treatments used to look younger, and clearly states a personal position that it is a positive trend. The ideas are generally relevant and extended, such as explaining how looking younger can boost confidence and improve work-field impressions. However, some arguments remain slightly basic or under-developed, particularly when discussing downsides like cost and side effects, which keeps the score at a Band 6.0. There is a clear attempt to provide examples and reasons, fulfilling the core requirements of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is coherent overall with a clear logical arrangement of ideas, moving from the introduction to supporting arguments for the positive side, then addressing the opposing side, and concluding appropriately. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to divide distinct themes. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, as seen in phrases like 'The one of the most downside is that' and 'Another reason is that adverse effect'. Referencing is generally clear, but transitional markers lack the flexibility and smooth integration characteristic of higher bands.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating topic-related terms such as 'cosmetic items', 'anti-aging treatments', 'sedentary lifestyles', and 'plastic surgery'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the response, such as 'In a recent time' instead of 'Nowadays', 'looking more older' instead of 'looking older', and 'left their attractive impression' instead of 'leave a positive impression'. These lexical inaccuracies prevent the score from reaching a Band 7.0, placing it firmly at a Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures (e.g., 'As all the products are not suitable for everyone...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense, article usage, and prepositions, such as 'healty skin condition', 'lead to wrinkles', and 'everyone can't afford it'. Furthermore, some sentence structures are awkward, such as 'made people to look younger'. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur regularly enough to prevent the writing from achieving a Band 7.0.
