Student answer (Band 5.0)
So basically in my opinion it is bad thing that in today world people used to buy many products and pay for treatments that help them to look younger because I believed by using this beauty products and treatment it can not be beneficial for your body and can damaged your skin. For example, last week I was reading an article which show that there is one actor who has paid for a plastic surgery of his face but unfortunately his operation did not get successful and now his face has been completely changed and never ever be recovered. So this story clearly explain that it can easily destroy your human body because there are many king of chemicals in the many products which can be so cruel and harmful for the human body . Apart from that, so therefore I would prefer the people to enhanced your natural look rather than taking these cruel treatments or they should visit the gym as it help to make discipline , improved the lifestyle and help you to achieved a good fitness. I can give you a example for this , in my gym there is 50 year old man who is doing workout from the past 20 years and still he look younger than me that is because of there natural strength and capability. More important these products and treatment are so expensive as compared to gym workout which is natural as it all depend on your strength. Overall, in my opinion using these products are just a waste of money and I would recommend them to visit the ym and enhanced your look naturally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that the trend of buying anti-aging products and treatments is negative. The writer supports this stance with relevant ideas, such as the potential health hazards of chemical-laden products and the risk of unsuccessful cosmetic procedures. However, the development is somewhat limited and relies heavily on a single personal gym example rather than broader societal analysis. The position is maintained throughout, but ideas are under-developed in places, aligning the response with Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text is written as one long paragraph without any paragraph breaks, which significantly impacts cohesion and visual organization. Although the writer uses cohesive devices like "For example," "Apart from that," and "Overall," the lack of paragraphing makes the text appear clumped and difficult to navigate. The logical progression is also slightly disrupted by run-on sentences and a lack of clear structural separation between discussing the negative aspects of products and offering natural alternatives like the gym. This performance meets Band 5 criteria.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases such as "plastic surgery," "cruel and harmful," and "natural strength and capability." However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as "did not get successful" instead of "unsuccessful," "king of chemicals" instead of "kind," and "visit the ym" instead of "gym." While communication is not severely impeded, these frequent inaccuracies prevent the writing from achieving a higher band, placing it firmly at Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ("people used to buy" instead of "people use", "there is 50 year old man" instead of "there is a 50-year-old man"), tense inconsistencies, and missing articles. Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences joined by commas rather than proper conjunctions or full stops. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader at times, corresponding to a Band 5 score.
