Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt by discussing whether anti-aging products and treatments are a good or bad thing. The student presents a clear position, noting that while treatments can boost confidence and productivity, excessive use driven by social media can be harmful. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, falling into the Band 5 descriptor. For instance, the point about hair transplants is introduced quickly without deep elaboration, and the conclusion is repetitive in its advice about consulting professionals. Despite these developmental limitations, all parts of the task are touched upon, satisfying the fundamental requirements for this level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some overall organization, utilizing basic sequencing markers such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'The conculsion'. However, there is a lack of clear logical progression within paragraphs, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the opening sentence where pronoun usage is confused ('thier are many new company are competiting'). Cohesive devices are occasionally inaccurate or mechanical. Paragraphing is attempted, but the flow is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and run-on sentences. These features place the response firmly at Band 5 for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, with noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The student attempts some topic-specific items such as 'anti aging products', 'hair transplant', and 'social media', but encounters frequent issues with word choice, spelling, and collocation (e.g., 'self grooming', 'competiting', 'don't aware', 'porpuse'). Spelling errors like 'conculsion' and 'practioniers' further reflect a restricted control of lexical features. The range is minimally adequate for the task, aligning with a Band 5 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student uses a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple or poorly connected compound sentences. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, characterized by run-on clauses and missing grammatical components (e.g., 'suppose if someone facing hair fall now he/she have option...'). There are frequent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement ('new company are competiting'), and articles. Although the general meaning remains mostly discernible, the high density of grammatical errors places this response at Band 5.
