Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the positive and negative aspects of buying products and treatments to look younger, but the ideas remain limited and somewhat under-developed. While you attempt to provide reasons, such as building confidence and facing potential health risks, the development lacks depth. For example, your point about celebrities influencing purchasing decisions is introduced but not fully explained, and the example of the Bollywood artist is only briefly mentioned without robust elaboration. Furthermore, your position is not always entirely clear throughout the response, as the conclusion simply restates both sides without clearly summarising a distinct personal stance on whether this overall trend is a good or a bad thing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement and is divided into appropriate paragraphs with a clear introduction and conclusion. You attempt to use cohesive devices to link your ideas, such as "To begin with," "Moreover," and "To conclude." However, referencing is not always clear, and some cohesive devices are mechanical or slightly repetitive, such as the recurring use of phrases like "There are many reasons thats why" and "The another reason is that." While the progression of ideas is generally understandable, the links between sentences can sometimes feel forced or abrupt, keeping the structural flow at a moderate level.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your lexical range is limited but minimally adequate for the task. You attempt to use some less common vocabulary related to the topic, such as "skincare products," "treatments," and "surgeries," but there are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. For instance, you write "contemrary" instead of contemporary, "parahgraph" instead of paragraph, "apperance" instead of appearance, and "techonology" instead of technology. Collocations are also sometimes unnatural, such as "do the skin care products" and "spend vast range of money," which reflects an emerging rather than a secure grasp of vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You demonstrate a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside some attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar, articles, prepositions, and subject-verb agreement that can cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include "most of the individuals spend" where the article is unnecessary, "reasons thats why people like to spent" which contains tense and structural errors, and "beacause in this way" with spelling and prepositional issues. Additionally, punctuation errors and run-on structures persist throughout the text, meaning that grammatical control remains restricted.
