Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response falls significantly short of the required minimum length of 250 words, stopping at just 84 words, which heavily restricts task completion. While the introductory sentences touch upon the topic of anti-aging products and treatments, the severe lack of length prevents any substantive development of ideas or a fully formed argument. Consequently, the response addresses the task only partially, failing to provide the body paragraphs and examples necessary to properly answer whether this is a positive or negative development.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a recognisable introductory structure with an attempt at organising the layout of the essay, such as mentioning '[t]he subsequent paragraphs will explore...'. However, because the text cuts off after the introduction, overall progression cannot be established. Cohesive devices are somewhat mechanical, as seen in the phrase 'In this modern era', and referencing is basic. While paragraphing is initiated, the inability to complete the essay limits the demonstration of logical organisation beyond a single introductory block.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary shows an adequate range for an attempt at a formal task, incorporating words and phrases such as 'senior citizens', 'maintain their young appearance', and 'underlying factors'. There are minor issues in word choice and phrasing, such as 'developed multiple way' instead of 'developed multiple ways', but these attempts at less common vocabulary do not impede basic communication. To reach a higher band, the writer would need to sustain a wider and more precise range of lexical items across a fully developed essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as the relative clause in 'treatments through which they can maintain their young appearance'. However, there are noticeable grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'technology is increasingly becoming advanced... and seen commonly that it has developed' and pluralisation slips like 'multiple way'. These errors require some effort from the reader to parse, though they do not completely obscure the intended meaning, placing the grammatical control at this specific level.
