Student answer (Band 5.5)

In contemporary society, physical outlook is considered more crucial for living satisfied life. Use of treatments and different sort of products on skin has become common nowadays. I firmly believe that spending money on oneself feel more confident with looks is surely a good trend. This essay will not only elaborate my viewpoint but also provide relevant examples to support it.

To commence with, one of the significant reasons to buy certain products or to pay for treatments is confidence. In other words, people feel more comfortable and confident when they look young and smart. Moreover, It boosts the overall psychological well being. For instance, adults sometime suffer from underestimation in front of young looking people, which generate the thought of using essential product to look better.

Furthermore, another benificial factor to consider is stress. Every individual want to live stressfree life, due to which some prefer to take treatments for younger skin and to deal with social anxiety. It offers them to face beautiful youngsters without feeling ashamed of their ageing skin. For example, some individuals feel shy to interact with public socially due to ageing skin. As a result, they try different techniques such as treatments like surgery to enhance the beauty.

In conclusion, the discussion clearly highlights the major benefits of using several products and taking treatments to look young. Hence, I believe it to be a great trend to make people confident.

Overall5.5

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, presenting a position that is generally clear regarding the benefits of anti-aging treatments and products, but the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the points about confidence and stress are mentioned rather than fully explored with deep reasoning. Furthermore, it is important to note a critical issue regarding length: the response contains only 235 words, falling short of the required minimum of 250 words. To reach a higher band, you need to ensure you meet the word count requirement and extend your main arguments with more thorough explanations and concrete examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

There is a coherent overall arrangement to the essay, featuring a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The response uses basic cohesive devices adequately, such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion', though referencing and transitions can occasionally feel a bit mechanical. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure the ideas, with each body paragraph focusing on a distinct point like confidence or stress. To move to a higher band, you should aim for smoother and more sophisticated transitions between ideas to ensure a clearer overall progression throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing enough range to discuss the topic of looking younger. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as writing 'physical outlook' instead of 'appearance', 'feel more confident' missing a prepositional link, and the misspelling 'benificial'. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they restrict the lexical score. To achieve a higher band, you should incorporate a wider and more precise range of less common lexical items with accurate spelling and natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, with frequent reliance on simple or slightly repetitive complex forms. There are notable grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as missing articles ('living satisfied life', 'stressfree life'), incorrect pluralization ('Every individual want'), and punctuation issues. These frequent errors can occasionally cause difficulty or hesitation for the reader. To improve, you should practice incorporating a greater variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining better control over subject-verb agreement, articles, and overall grammatical accuracy.
